Semester 2 Schedule Pick-up
Students can pick up schedules beginning at 8:15am on Tuesday in the gym. All students will need their printed copy to be sure they are viewing their most recent schedule.
Semester 2 Schedule Information From Your Counselors
The following information emailed to all students from Mrs. Jones earlier, but are important reminders to read again as we begin Semester 2:
1) Students should check to make sure they are enrolled in all required year long classes. If they are missing a class or placed in the wrong class (example, honors when it should be regular), they should complete the schedule change request form.
2) Due to limited space in classes, we are unable to honor teacher requests or changes to elective classes unless it helps balance out class sizes.
3) Schedules are available on Student Vue. Paper copies can be picked up Tuesday morning in the gymnasium beginning at 8:15am.
4) If you are missing a class or are in need of a schedule change, please make a 5 Minute Google Meet Schedule Change with your counselor. All schedule changes will be made through Google Meets. Students can either join the meeting in the pod closest to their classroom or in the IMC.
Be Ready for Semester 2!
This weekend would be a great time to do the following:
- Clean out your backpack and/or binder. Be sure to only recycle the papers that you know have been graded and you no longer need.
- Stock up on supplies for your new classes (notebooks, folders, etc.) and restock pens and pencils for the new semester.
- Screenshot or print your schedule so you can find it easily.
Google Classroom: Semester transition reminders for grades 7-12
1) Do not leave your Semester 1 classes yet! Teachers will still be accessing your submitted materials for grading and once you leave the class, your work is not accessible anymore. Please remain in your Semester 1 classes for another week.
2) Teachers will most likely have you join Semester 2 classes on the first day of the course while in class.
3) For the next week, while you have classes from BOTH Semesters visible, please rearrange your Semester 1 classes to the bottom of your Classroom Home screen.
4) Remember that when you join new classes you will need to redo your settings for notifications in each class so that your school email inbox is not full of Google Classroom emails. See the video below for help.
What to do if you are absent from classes....
It is very important that you initiate communication with your teachers if you will be, or have been, absent from class. Sending your teachers an email letting them know you were gone (you don't have to say why) and asking what you missed will greatly help you from falling too far behind.
Here's the best procedure:
1) Make sure the school attendance line has been notified of your absence by an adult.
2) If you are feeling up to it (or WHEN you feel up to it) check in on the Google Classrooms for each course. Look for assignments and make notes of questions you have for the teacher.
3) If you have questions about make up work or what was done in class while you were absent, email your teachers. This is an easy one-click process from StudentVUE.
4) If you continue to be absent, check Google Classroom daily.
5) Upon your return to school it is really helpful to connect with each teacher and verify what you need to be doing to recover from your class absences AND stay on track with current work. This is YOUR responsibility.

-Xavier Kienholz is one of those rare students who can communicate with absolutely anybody. Xavier took charge in the pizza party award and poured soda pop to his classmates that he contributed. -To the Berghammer Team of Student Workers: They are always so helpful doing work around the school like picking up lunch trays and recycling, filling printers with paper, cleaning the lunch room and other jobs in the community. Become a Student School Board Member!
Student School Board includes student representatives, grades 7-12, from Red Wing Public Schools. They meet once a month during the school day for about 60 minutes. The purpose of this group:
- Learn how our school district operates, is managed, and is governed
- Provide insight and feedback to the School Board and District Administration on issues facing the district
- Develop leadership and problem-solving skills that can be applied to challenges facing their school
- Work with their building administration and other students and staff at their school to address these challenges
The most effective student school board members are those who are committed to tackling tough issues and being part of the solution to make our schools better. They should be willing to attend the meetings each month and communicate regularly with other students as well as with their principal.

A friendly reminder from Nurse Vikki to stay home if you are experiencing ANY illness! It takes the help of everyone to slow the spread of all illnesses and keep each other safe and healthy!

ALL students are invited and welcomed to attend to get extra work time and support in their studies. Students do not need an appointment to attend but are encouraged to communicate with their teachers if they need materials, help or tests to work on during this time. All students will need to have their own transportation home from Winger Study.
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:50pm-4:45pm
7 and 8th Grade in Lower H pod: Mr. Hanson
Language arts and Social studies in Lower J pod: Mr. Bowes
Math and Science in Upper H pod: Mr. Leise
Other subject areas can be addressed in all areas as well.

Ready, Set, FAFSA!
Virtual Financial Aid Events
Free financial aid events are available to Minnesota students and families via Zoom! The series, running February 8 through March 1, will cover general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.
All sessions are at 7:00 p.m. and will last approximately 45-60 minutes. Participants can ask questions in the chat.
Participants can attend any number of sessions (choosing dates during registration).
Participants who attend 4 out of 5 sessions will be eligible to win a $500 scholarship!

• February 17 (Thursday): Complete the Dream Act

Yes! All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali and Hmong. In addition, there will be
financial aid professionals during each session who can answer questions in the chat in Spanish, Somali and Hmong if
needed. We plan to record the presentations as well.
