Message from Superintendent Mike Johnson

At this time of the year, time seems to accelerate. State tests, spring activities, and promotion/graduation ceremonies are just around the corner. As we focus on the learning taking place in our classrooms each and every day, we are also looking ahead and planning for the next school year.

Soon, the school board will review and approve the 2022-2023 academic calendar. To assist with your future scheduling, we will share that information with you as soon as it is available. Online enrollment is also now open for students who will be joining CSD in the fall. We look forward to welcoming our incoming students and to celebrating the success of our graduating seniors and they take the next steps in their post-secondary academic and career paths.

Thank you for your involvement and support of our students and staff. It means the world and makes an enormous difference.

With best regards,

Mike Johnson
Superintendent

Kindergarten Enrollment Now Open

Registration is now open for Creslane's 2022-23 incoming Kindergarten class and students new to the district. To enroll, kindergarten students must turn five on or before September 1st.

As part of the enrollment process, families need to provide the following documentation:

  • Proof of Student's Age (e.g., birth certificate, adoption papers, passport, etc.)
  • Proof of Address (e.g., Mortgage statement, rental agreement, utility bill, etc.)
  • Immunization Records

To register a new student, visit our online enrollment site here. If you have enrollment questions, please reach out to our school office staff. They will be happy to help answer your queries.

CMS Turf Field Replacement Complete

The turf field replacement at Creswell Middle School is complete and looks fantastic! Teams and classes are already enjoying practicing and playing on the new surface. The field is home to many CSD sports teams and well-used by the community at large. Replacing the synthetic turf addressed safety concerns and allows for continued liability coverage for student use, ensuring our schools and community will keep benefitting from this valuable resource.

You can help us maintain and protect the field's condition by following a few basic guidelines.

  • Please dispose of any garbage in the provided trash receptacles.
  • No dogs or pets are permitted on the turf field.
  • No food, gum, or seeds should be consumed on the field.
  • Water is the only beverage that should be used on the field and should be stored in a non-breakable container.
  • Vehicles of any kind are not permitted, including bikes, skateboards, and scooters.
  • No metal cleats
  • No equipment with sharp and/or narrow legs.

With your partnership, this field will serve our students and community for years to come.

Oregon Battle of the Books

Congratulations to the "Book Warriors" who will represent Creslane Elementary and the "Big Green Lizard Llama Beans" who will represent Creswell Middle School in the regional Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) this weekend.

OBOB's mission is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension ,and promote academic excellence, cooperative learning, and teamwork among students.

Thank you to Steffanni Lee, Kendra Anderson, Nick Caum, and all the volunteer coaches who helped make this year's program so successful. Good luck at regionals, Chloe C., Chloe M., Elliot M., Melinda R., Thomas K., Kiera A., Truman D., and Tripp J.!

District Website Redesign

We are thrilled to be introducing a redesigned district website to the CSD community soon and hope you will find the new site intuitive and informative. We are grateful for the staff and parent volunteers who have kindly tested the site and provided feedback during the development process.

While the main web address will remain the same (www.creswell.k12.or.us), other pages (e.g., school menus, etc.) will shift and any bookmarks you currently use may need to be updated. As you access the new site, if you have any suggestions for improvement, general feedback about usability, or notice errors or missing information, please email Julie Ward at jward@creswell.k12.or.us. Your input is essential to help us continuously improve the site and ensure that families can locate information quickly and easily.

World Athletics Championships Oregon22

The World Athletics Championships are coming to the United States for the first time ever and will be an unmissable global experience. With Creswell's proximity to Eugene and Hayward Field, this event represents a unique opportunity to become involved and showcase our community.

In advance of the championships, depending upon their classes and extracurricular activities, students from CSD will have an opportunity to participate in learning activities associated with the championships, including a World Wide Welcome Youth Relay.

One of the most exciting aspects about the championships involves bringing together people from 200+ countries to celebrate diversity, human potential and athletic achievement. Before competing, athletes from Finland will be using our district facilities to practice, train, and acclimate, providing Creswell with a unique opportunity to see world-class athletes in action in our own backyard. Additional details will be shared as the event draws closer.

March in CSD

We hope you enjoy this video recap of some of the events that took place in Creswell School District during the month of March.
