Lessons Learned, Day #5
How to Avoid Invalidating Tests
3rd Grade Reading Test Books
- Clip the first part of the section the student already completed together with a binder clip.
- Pull the student in with a TA and proctor to complete only the last portion of the section.
- Remind all students to work until they get to the STOP sign.
- Log the occurrence in the Test Administration Log.
This only applies to students who did not complete a section due to the confusion of the ARROW. A student can not be pulled in to complete questions they skipped on the test. If you have specific questions on whether or not a student can complete the 3rd grade test, please let me know.
3rd Grade Return:
When packaging the 3rd grade books to send back, only approximately 20 test books will fit in the bags. Please do not pack more than this because the bags are ripping. Thank you!
Accommodations
- Make sure the accommodations are clearly written on the IEP or LEP
- Check with the teacher to ensure the accommodations have been used during the school year
- Online accommodations must be set up PRIOR to the student logging into the computer.
- Make sure the Test Administrator/Proctor is aware of the test accommodations for the group being tested.

Online Testing
English EOI:
Inform students ahead of time that Section 1 of English 2 and 3 is the Writing Prompt. It's not a practice prompt or sample item, so it must be answered and completed before submitting.
Students have to complete all the Multiple Choice (Sections 2 and 3) before the Writing (Section 1). OR students need to complete the test in sequential order--> 1-3.
6-8 OCCT:
These tests are lengthy, especially the reading test. Make sure students have plenty of time to complete it. The students are really trying hard and taking their time to complete these tests!
Sick Students
Fluids on Paper Test Items:
If a student gets sick on a test, Measured Progress DOES NOT want the test returned. In fact, they said to destroy items with "blood, spit, vomit, or tears" at the site. If you can transfer answers to a new answer sheet, please do so. If you do have to dispose of a testing item, include a letter with the test book/answer document number, explaining what happened so we can account for the missing item.
