― William Shakespeare
So much has changed in 30 years....including Marijuana! Great work, Cumberland Prevention Coalition!
Community Partnership in Lincoln!
The Lincoln Prevention Coalition is very excited to announce our collaboration with Carol LaMontagne of LaMontagne Real Estate in Lincoln, to advise sellers to lock up or dispose of unwanted/expired medications during "Open Houses".
In addition to supplying clients with valuable safe disposal information for prescription drugs, LaMontagne Real Estate will also supply their clients with a "Pill Pod/RX Drug Lock Box" to keep their medications safe & secure during open houses, courtesy of the Lincoln Prevention Coalition & the Drug-Free Communities Grant.
On a daily basis, misused prescription drugs kill more than 40 Americans, and 2,500 young people abuse a prescription drug for the first time, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
One reason Drug thieves target open houses is because homeowners don’t consider their prescriptions to be items of discernible value. However, when you consider the street value of some prescription drugs can total into the thousands of dollars, it is no wonder why someone would want to steal them.
If you are a Lincoln resident & are interested in receiving a free "Pill Pod/RX Drug Lock Box" for yourself, please feel free to contact the Lincoln Prevention Coalition at 401-333-8426.
Seasonal Stress
Spring is here...the flowers are popping, the snow has melted and unfortunately, stress levels are also "popping up!" For teens, this is an extremely busy and stressful time...exams, proms, college decisions, impending graduations, etc. For adults, on top of the day-to-day stresses, there are many social obligations in the spring, which can also lead to financial obligations. We've compiled a helpful list, for children & parents, of tips to alleviate stress!
1. Spend 20 minutes outside.
2. Color a page in a coloring book.
3. Write down five things you are grateful for.
4. Get hydrated.
5. Play loud music and dance.
6. No social media day.
7. Take a long bubble bath.
8. Ten minutes of meditation.
9. Do your favorite cardio exercise for 20 minutes.
10. Go to bed early.
11. Start a good vitamin regimen.
12. Snuggle an animal.
13. Meditate.
14. Volunteer for an organization or perform a good deed for a stranger.
15. Try a relaxing essential oil blend.
16. Make a stress ball.
17. Pick a time of day that will be just for you.
18. Do something you are good at.
19. Make a list of your anxieties.
20. Comment on each anxiety with something you can do to calm it.
21. JUST BREATHE!
