AVID Critical Reading Strategy
Great News! There is a free AVID Critical Reading Workshop happening right here in the Utt MPR at 3:15 this Monday. To use the words from Naomi's email, "The training addresses Critical Reading strategies that help our students work with text through specific prereading, during reading, and post reading strategies. These are researched based strategies that help our students access expository text while providing specific and powerful instructional tools that can help all learners build their reading tool belt." If you want to attend, please let Naomi know as she is taking a headcount.
Good Job with Duty Schedules
Christa and I have seen teachers doing a good job with our Supervision Schedule. Keep up the good work!
Parent Classes Coming to Utt!
The Parent Institute for a Quality Education (PIQE) is coming back to Utt! PIQE kickoff class is next Thursday, October 1st from 6:30 - 7:30 and the classes run through early December. Based on the success of our last turnout, we are hoping to graduate 100 parents from the program. The program emphasis is how to support your children to successfully navigate through middle school, high school. and college. Please stop by the kickoff meeting in the MPR next Thursday and check it out.
Actively Learn Training
Our first Actively Learn training is Wednesday, October 30th in the computer lab at 7:30. All core and science teachers should attend, however we are inviting all staff that would like to learn about the program.
EL Students and CELDT Levels
In your box, there is a list of every EL student and their CELDT level. This list should make your planning easier as you differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all your students. Thanks for making English Learners a priority!
Teacher Work Room - location change
Due to an overwhelming electrical load to the current teacher workspace, we are moving the teacher's copy machine and laminator to the Staff Lounge. Moving forward, students will not be allowed in the teacher work area.
