Message from the Principal
Dear Sierra Families,
Happy New Year!
As we head into the last week of our current hybrid every-other day model for our 2nd-6th graders, that will end on January 15th, I want to thank you all for making it together as a team through this very challenging schedule, while also handling the mountain of work, communication, and energy it takes to transition your day-to-day plans in preparation for the new schoolwide AM/PM schedule that will start on January 19th. My sincerest thanks for all your patience and communication with us.
Looking ahead to the AM/PM schedule, it is important to know that we are still in a hybrid model, so outside of the bell schedule changing, all of our other procedures (drop-off/pick-up, sanitization of high-touch surfaces between groups, and safety procedures) are all still in place.
Your teachers will be communicating with you directly with their classroom-specific learning schedule and at-home expectations by next Friday, Jan. 15th. This will include details like PE, Spanish (which will continue to be offered virtually for 2nd-6th graders), etc.
Our drop-off and pick-up procedures are NOT changing for this model. Drop-off is available ten minutes prior to the start of class. As a reminder, here are the procedures:
DROP-OFF:
Students will remain off-campus (in car, on sidewalk, etc.) until ten minutes prior to the start of class.
Students will go directly to their classroom (without parent escort, no before-school recess).
ALL Kindergarten & 1st grade students will go to their classrooms through the kindergarten playground gate (no parents beyond the gate and parents walking onto sidewalk for pick-up must keep the sidewalk area physically distanced for staff and students using that area for coming off/on campus. If your K/1st grader is unable to get out of the car by themselves at the drop-off loop in front of the office, you need to park in a parking spot (not in the drop-off lane) and bring them to the sidewalk because you may not exit your car while in the drop-off lanes to assist children out of the car. There will be a staff member available to assist with a curbside door if needed. DO NOT EVER have your child exit the car from the driver's side of the car when the sidewalk is to your right.
For drop-off of only 3rd graders & younger: use office parking loop.
For drop-off with cars containing only 4th graders or older, use back parking lot loop.
PICK-UP
Pick-up in office loop: K/1, 2nd & 3rd graders and any of their older siblings
- Pick-up in back parking lot loop: 4th-6th graders without a K-3rd sibling
- Parents may not come into the heart of campus to pick up children, but may plan a meeting spot at a sidewalk at the street-side perimeter of campus.

As always, don't hesitate to contact me, our office staff, or your child's teacher with any questions. We are here to help! To our RVC families, keep on rocking it, or good luck if you're just getting started, and to our K/1 families and teachers, congratulations, you're our AM/PM experts! :)
Have a fantastic weekend!
Warmly,
Amy Westberg
