Spring Break
March 11 - March 15
Parents,
I hope that each of our LCMS families has the opportunity to get some much needed rest and enjoy fun times during Spring Break. Enjoy your week off (March 11-15)!
Please begin to monitor your student's grades as we only have ONE weeks left in this third nine-week grading period. It is important that your child comes in for morning tutorials with their teachers in the classes they are struggling in. Teachers are available at 7:55am each morning.

MS Demolition Update:
TMSCA State Bound!
We are extremely proud of our NINE students who have advanced to STATE in TMSCA. Keep up the GREAT work and bring home the GOLD!
TMSCA is an organization formed by Texas math and science teachers to promote excellence in math and science through competition. It was formed in 1981 to promote uniformity in the practice meets held to prepare students for University Interscholastic League competition in the spring. Through its efforts grade-level competition is now the norm at practice meets. Team competition, originally promoted at practice meets, is now included in most of the University Interscholastic League's academic events.
*** The competitions consist of Number Sense, Calculator, Math, and Science.
Over the past two weekends, LCMS 6th, 7th, and 8th graders competed at TMSCA qualifying meets in Whiteface.
The following students have qualified for state in various events and will travel to San Antonio in late April to compete:
Tony Wang - 8th grade - Number Sense, Calculator, and Math
Ryan Purdy - 8th grade - Number Sense, Calculator, Math, and Science
Nate Mullins - 8th grade - Calculator and Math
Damian Pantoya - 8th grade - Science
Eleanor Gonzales-Poirier - 8th grade - Math and Science
Caylee Mortensen - 8th grade - Calculator
Aidan Sloan - 8th grade - Science
Taye Brooks - 7th grade - Math
Nephi Spendlove - 6th grade - Calculator and Science
We are so proud of all the hard work that it has taken to get to this point. We can’t wait to see how they do at State!
Eighth Grade Banquet Information
The 8th grade banquet is just around the corner and will be here before you know it. One of the highlights every year for the 8th graders is the banquet slideshow. In order to make this a success, we need your help! Please email a picture of your child when he/she was a baby and a current picture of your child to lcmsclassof2023@gmail.com. Please include your child's name in the subject line. We have 203 8th graders and we want to make sure to get everyone's pictures so that no child is left out. If you have any other fun pictures of your child from school activities, you are more than welcome to submit those as well. Thank you so much for your help in this! Please feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. The deadline is April 12.
Email:
Banquet will be Friday, April 26 @ Bella Via Venue
*** There is a dress code in place, so please make sure you are wearing Sunday best or cocktail attire. No PROM dresses allowed, as this is an eighth grade banquet and we want to keep the attire age-appropriate. If you have questions, please have your student show me a picture of their outfit and I will approve. Thanks for your understanding.

Student Negative Balance Lunch Accounts
Student Negative Balance Lunch Accounts
Our Cafeteria is needing to reconcile student accounts, so please make sure your child's account is current. If accounts are not cleared, students will receive alternate meals until the account is current.
Semester Final Exemption Criteria
Please start letting your students know the requirements to be able to exempt Spring Semester Exams.
Due to STAAR testing being so late in the semester, we will implement exemptions for the second semester.
In order to exempt a final you must have at least an 80 average for the semester and meet the following attendance requirements:
No more than 3 tardies in any one period. (If the class is double blocked, you cannot have five or more tardies for any one period to be eligible for an exemption)
No more than 3 absences in any one period of the class you want to exempt (If the class is double blocked, you cannot have five or more absences for any one period to be eligible for an exemption)
Perfect attendance exemptions can be used for a class with a 70 average or above as long as you have met attendance requirements.
Through unit assessment data, students must show progress through the spring semester
Library and Cafeteria fines need to be taken care of before exemptions can be sign for academics.
