After School Clubs @ SLA-MS:
We're getting ready for our second season of Students Run Philly Style team for SLAMS! Students Run Philly Style is a mentoring program that uses long-distance running as a means to set goals and work on being the best version of ourselves. We had an amazing first season with 9 of our students participating in the Philadelphia Marathon week. Students will be able to train and participate in races around the city including the Broad Street Run in May. Students who join the program will have running practice two days a week after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 until 4:45 and on Saturday mornings at SLAMS. This program is open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Students must have a valid physical that clears them to participate in athletics. Students who are interested need to stop by Ms. Londo or Ms. Nakaishi's room to sign up to indicate their interest or for more information about the program.
SLA-MS Reading Olympics Team:
The SLA-MS' Reading Olympics Teams are registered and ready to read! Over the next few months, the teams will meet to read, discuss, and collaborate around great books. In May, we will travel to a nearby university to participate in a city-wide gathering to practice teamwork and reading skills with other schools. Meetings will be held weekly on Mondays from 3.30 pm-4.30 pm.
