BHE 2nd Grade Newsletter

September 19th-September 23rd

The Learners' Journey

Thank you for coming to Back to School night. Next week our readers will continue to learn about David Weisner's writing craft. Next week, students will be studying author’s craft. We will look at mentor texts that the kids are familiar with and discuss what cool things the author did in their writing that we can imitate in our own small moment stories. In science our little scientists continue to investigate physical changes to matter. This week they built an ice tower outside. After drawing their observations they wrote conclusions. Next week, students will continue to investigate changes to matter and complete a post assessment on Thursday. In Math this week, our mathematicians will be continuing to use standard, word, and expanded forms to represent numbers up to 1,200 and showing what we know about place value and building numbers. Math Facts this week will be focused on counting up to subtract!

Math Facts Resource & Sharing on Google docs

This is an optional resource for you if you would like for your child to practice his or her math facts each night. Click on the buttons below and feel free to print as many as you would like for your child to practice at home. Please do not send in math facts sheets, this is not for a grade. We have also shared the math facts with your child on his/her google shared drive. Students will be learning how to log in and find this during library time this week. Communication

Remind App

The purpose of our team using this app is to give you last minute notifications. Please DO NOT use this app to "text" a teacher a change of transportation, if a child is sick, or ask about student behavior or grades. We only see these when we are sending out a last minute notification. We will not be using text for conversations. The best way to get in touch with your child's teacher is via email. We do not usually check our emails until our planning time @ 2:00 pm. So any last minute issues or illnesses please call the front office.

If you have twitter, follow us on twitter #BHE2nd, to see the fun things going on.
