WELCOME BACK!!
Friday, August 11, 2023
Hello Golden Goats!
Welcome to the new school year!
I am incredibly excited to begin my first year as Principal here, and I hope you all had a summer full of activities and smiles! We had amazing weather in Juneau (you're welcome - I brought the sun - but not the heat - with me from San Antonio... and I even gave you a bonus thunderstorm)!
I'm so immensely excited to begin my time here in Juneau! My niece - Anna Dale - was a Golden Goat from 3rd-8th grade, and my sister Robin and I are going to "empty nest" it together in this first year without our youngest kids at home (Anna for her, Noah for me)! Wish us luck in that regard!
Teachers were officially back yesterday (Thursday), but we saw many folks in and around our school building getting things ready for the start of school next Tuesday!
Later I'll introduce you to some new faces, but we didn't have many changes to our staff this summer, and we are excited about that!
There's a lot of info packed in both above and below -- and a sincere THANK YOU for really checking it out! There are a lot of back-to-school details which are especially important for first time families!
We look forward to seeing you for a quick hello at the Ice Cream Social on Monday at 3 pm! Feel free to bring the indoor shoes you want to leave at school so they are already here for the first day on Tuesday!

MONTESSORI 101
We gather on the turf in a giant circle - students find their teacher/guide and circle up - families and guests stand behind them. We celebrate coming together and the privilege we have to access a free and public education together. We usually sing a song or two and then have one of our younger students walk in with one of our oldest 8th graders to lead the way for the rest of the students and teachers.
Parents/family/friends who are there to cheer them on will stay outside and wave goodbye as the students enter the building. Once we see the students in, adults are welcome to join Principal John Paul for some tea in the foyer. We will let our students start the journey of the school year!
SAFETY - Drop off and pick up
Those of you wanting to park and come in or come to Wisdom Day, please find parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
Earliest drop off should be no earlier than 8:10 AM, fyi.
Regular BUS drop off and pick up routines can be found HERE. Active drop off and pick up happen along the outer curb on Glacier Avenue.
Thank you for reading the routines on the link above and following the guidelines to make our before and after traffic as safe as possible! There are approximately 400 students coming and going at the same time all along Glacier Avenue, and we want to be as safe as we can!
