The RMMS Olé FAMILY EDITION

Rancho Minerva Middle School - September 29, 2023

National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries.

National Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins in the United States each year on Sept. 15, celebrates U.S. Latinos, their culture and their history. Started in 1968 by Congress as Hispanic Heritage Week, it was expanded to a month in 1988. The celebration begins in the middle of September to coincide with independence days in several Latin American countries: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica celebrate theirs on Sept. 15, followed by Mexico on Sept. 16, Chile on Sept. 18 and Belize on Sept. 21.

FROM OUR COMMUNITY LIAISON

APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED

Thank you for helping us help YOU! It is essential that parents/families make appointments to see Administrators at RMMS. We know sometimes things come up quickly, however, in order to serve our families, we need you to schedule an appointment. Parents who arrive on campus prior to school beginning will need to wait until school starts to meet with an Administrator. Please note that all Administrators are on campus with scholars during the following times: 30 minutes before school starts, lunch time, and 20 minutes after school ends. Administrators are not available to meet with parents during this time. We thank you for your understanding and patience. Please schedule an appointment by calling 760-631-4500.

Our scholars are assigned an Administrator based on their last names. We are all here to help! Please call Mr. Miguel at 760-631-4500, x64006, to set up an appointment if needed or click on the AP's name to email them directly in English or Spanish. Be sure to include your scholar's name.

  • Assistant Principal Dr. Blessey-Bragg is assigned to scholars with last names A-L
  • Assistant Principal Ms.Hasan is assigned to scholars with last names M-Z.

BULL BUCKS STORE OPEN EVERY OTHER THURSDAY

Get ready to spend your "money!" Ms. Hasan has put together a great store of goodies you will love. Make sure you have your Bull Bucks on Thursday! You can get things for as little as 5 Bull Bucks. Click here for the list of goodies!

DEVICE COVERAGE REMINDER

Please consider purchasing device coverage for your computer. It's $20 for the school year. That's a deal! Just as an example of how much repairs cost: The Dell Touch screen 3100 model repair cost for its screen damage is around $150! The option to purchase a $20 VUSD Mobile Device Protection Plan is an easy solution to protect this expensive piece of equipment.

CELL PHONES ON CAMPUS

All scholars are reminded to power down their cell phones and to put them in their backpacks each morning during the announcements. If a scholar needs to reach their family, they are able to access the phones in classrooms or in Scholar Services. If a scholar's phone is seen out (for example, in their back pocket), it could be confiscated and held for parent pickup. Thank you for your support in advance.

SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT CARD (SARC) FOR RMMS

The purpose of the School Accountability Report Card (SARC) is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators.
