How does the invention work?
McCormick’s reaper had the advantages of a divider to separate cut and standing grain and a revolving reel to topple the cut grain onto the rear of the machine, where it could be raked off onto the ground and later tied

The purpose of the invention was to revolutionize grain harvesting. Another purpose was to speed up the process of harvesting.
Were did the invention occur?
The mechanical reaper was invented in Virginia after his dad died and never got finished making the machine.
When did the invention occur?
In 1831, Cyrus built his first reaper. He tested the device on wheat and oats and continued to make adjustments before patenting it in 1834. McCormick finally offered his reaper for sale in Virginia in 1840.
Why was there a need for this invention?
The invention was needed because in one day people would only harvest 2-3 acres a day but the invention made it to were people harvested minimum 10 acres in one day.
Why is this invention important in history?
This invention is important in history cause if it was never made we wouldn’t have as much food or the nutrient from foods we need to have in order to live. Also if it wasn’t invented many more people may have died harvesting or continue to die. If the inventinon was never made we couldnt have the harvesting machines we have today.
