Student Spotlight!
Alston Sunia
Polynesian Fireknife Dancer!
Alston spent 4 days in Okinawa, Japan and competed in the TAHITI FETE OF
OKINAWA competition on Saturday, March 30th. He took the 1st place trophy!
Alston Sunia is in 11th grade and has been a student with Inspire since 2016. Alston is very active with
his dance group, LOKELANI R.O.T.I. (Rhythm of the Islands), and performs many community events. His
group has traveled from all throughout the South Bay areas and down to San Diego. They have even
been invited to perform at the PURE ALOHA FESTIVAL in Las Vegas. He just completed in an international
Fireknife competition where he won 1 st place and has plans to travel with his dance group in the summer
months to Kauai and then off to Indiana. Between these major traveling events, he will be performing
many community events over the weekends. On May 18-19, 2019, Alston's group, Lokelani R.O.T.I. will
be performing on stage. The lineup of performances has yet been published. If you would like to see his

Community Outreach- April
Join us for a nature walk!
Tuesday, April 9th @ 9:00 am you are invited to come take a nature walk with us! We will be enjoying the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve. Please wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. Bring water to enjoy during your walk and snack to eat afterwards in the covered sitting area. We will meet at the main building at 9 am. Students and families will enjoy the walk and be provided with a nature journal handout to complete as they observe plant and animal life of the Antelope Valley.

Meet and Greet for Prospective Families and Fundraiser!
Do you have friends that want to learn more about Inspire and how our homeschool program works? Please bring them to a Meet and Greet on Friday, April 12th @ Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt in the Valencia Mall from 11:30 to 1:30. Some of our SCV Team will be there to help answer questions for prospective families. Inspire swag for the kids! Spread the word! This is also a fundraiser for our SCV EA, so please come and eat some froyo with us!

Park south of Baseline Community Church at Baseline and Towne. We will meet up in the
parking lot where your students will be invited to participate in a Nature Scavenger Hunt. Students complete the Nature Scavenger Hunt as we walk along Thompson Creek Trail. Our walk will end at Higginbotham Park.
It is a 30-45 minute walk from the parking lot to the park. The path is paved and stroller-friendly for any younger siblings. Please pack snacks and water and wear comfortable shoes. Public restrooms are located at Higginbotham Park.
