BYOD Parent Meeting
Our BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Parent Meeting is this week. Families have the option of attending one of two different times: Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:30 pm OR Wednesday, May 4th at 6:30 pm. Both meetings will be held at the Paloma Creek Elementary Cafeteria.
Teachers at Braswell are charged with making digital learning readily available to engage students and to use their technology as a tool for learning that is relevant for students growing up in the 21st century.
Right now, teachers who have been hired are learning about digital citizenship and how to create Google Classrooms. Our goal is to teach students how to use their technology for meaningful learning. Smart phones, iPads, etc. are more than portals for social media. We want our students to be responsible digital citizens who are able to use technology for reasons, such as research, projects, collaboration, and communication (just to name few).
We want your student to bring his/her digital device to school. The BYOD Task Force is working to establish procedures and practices for students bringing and using their devices at school. There will be expectations for students and their devices. We will have a plan for students and families who do not have devices to bring to school. Also, we will have a list of suggested devices to purchase if your student does not already have one. This will only be a suggested list.
We hope you can join us for one of our BYOD meetings this week.
Braswell High School is excited about the possibility with digital learning for next year!
Senior Class Ring Committee
Braswell High School will be working with Jostens to create a class ring for seniors. We will solicit help from our current Ryan and Denton HS sophomores that are going to BHS next year.
This week every RHS and DHS sophomore who is zoned for BHS next year will receive an email in their school email inviting them to apply to serve on a senior class ring committee. From all of the applicants, 20 students (10 from each school) will be selected to help design two different senior rings. The two designs will then be voted on by all students who are zoned to attend Braswell next year.
The class ring design will be a basic design that we will use for all senior classes in the future. Please keep in mind that every student who orders a class ring will have options to individualize his/her ring.
Parents of current sophomores should tell their students to check their school emails this week for the application link.

The information listed below is intended to help parents become more familiar with our program and address some frequently asked questions.
- Menus: School menus are planned by a registered dietitian, and they meet or exceed all of the requirements under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Moreover, we offer menu items that have a high degree of acceptance by students. Menus and nutrition information are posted on our website. Menus are subject to change without notice.
- Meal Service: We offer both breakfast and lunch to all students in the district. Serving times vary slightly from school to school.
- Pre-Payment of Meals: Parents are encouraged to place money in their student's account to reduce the need for carrying cash, which can be lost or stolen. You may send a check or cash with your child, or you may pay online at www.parentonline.net. Please note that our cashiers will not accept bills greater than $20.00 from students. We also encourage you to discuss the benefits of your student using his/her ID badge to track their food charges. This helps gets them thru the cafeteria lines faster, giving them more time to eat their lunch. You are also able to track in real time what they are spending daily using www.parentonline.net .
- A La Carte Items: Braswell will offer items not planned on the menu such as baked chips, Fruit Smoothies, Parfaits and Yogurt, etc. These items are priced separately. If you do not want your child to use his/her money for these purchases, please visit www.parentonline.net to manage your request to restrict purchase of extra items.
- Charging Meals: After a student has charged the combined price of a breakfast meal and a lunch meal, the student will be offered a courtesy lunch consisting of a toasted cheese sandwich, a fruit serving, a vegetable serving, and a carton of milk. You may view your student's account balance and set up reminders by registering online at www.parentonline.net.
On behalf of all Braswell Child Nutrition Cafeteria employees and manager, thank you for the opportunity to serve your child.
