Halo Highlight: Attendance Reminders and Friday's Final Free Dress List
Dear Saints Families,
Great job to parents and students on a smooth beginning of the school year! As we begin to monitor and address attendance concerns, here are a few reminders:
- Students must be present the entire second half of the school day to participate in ANY after-school activity, including games and practice.
- Excessive (more than 4) tardies will result in an office referral and detention. Please remember the bell rings daily at 7:40 a.m.
- Please limit items being dropped off in the office. Lunches and practice clothes should be packed in the morning. We understand when there are emergencies, but please do your best to refrain from this.
- We are super excited to continue the Q1 Dress Code Challenge. Each C period class does a quick dress check, and if all students have the correct uniform head to toe, they earn a point. We will see how many of our classes earn a free dress day in the upcoming weeks. Keep up the great work, Saints!
- It's not too late to purchase your at-home copy of The Biggest Lie in the History of Christianity and follow along with our entire campus. We will send out the discussion and reflection questions that all students and staff will use. We hope this will give families the opportunity to build rich and meaningful conversations. Send $5 to the office for your copy.
Speaking of free dress days, tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 6) is a free dress day for the 170 students listed here. We are so grateful for your support helping us "stock the bar" for the Golden Gala & Auction. Free dress still means neat and modest dress! (Pajamas and slippers are NOT allowed). The administration reserves the right to send a student home to change if they do not meet school standards regarding dress and grooming.
Academic Updates
College Visit Update
College Visits Scheduled:
LSU/BR: September 19th
Tulane: September 23rd
Notre Dame: September 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria (no sign-up required)
Northwestern State University: September 24th
McNeese: October 8th
UL/Monroe: October 10th
Students must register in advance to attend and can come by the Counseling Office to sign up. Official passes will be delivered to registered students the morning of the presentation and must be presented for admission. The presentation is expected to last about 30 minutes, and students are responsible for missed work.
Grading Scale and ASPIRE Scores
The grading scale has not changed, but in order to comply with Diocesan policy, we will no longer be awarding +/- on the scale. Additionally, the quality points system has been tweaked to more closely align with the state’s designated TOPS quality points as well as most colleges' expected scales. This will not impact past grades, GPAs or rank for any of our 10-12th graders. This is going to be very beneficial for our students as they prepare to apply for college. Please refer to the 2019-2020 Course Planning Guide on page 9 for details.
AP FACTS Payment Instructions
Dear AP Parents and Students,
If you have a FACTS account, please follow these instructions to submit your AP payment by Sept. 27, 2019.
1. Log into FACTS.
2. Under “Payment Plan and Billing,” you will see a total balance, payment plan and incidental expenses.
Note: AP fees are listed under incidental expenses.
3. Select “Make a Payment.”
Note: At this time, you cannot auto draft for incidental expenses; you can enroll in auto draft, but that option cannot be applied until next year’s AP payment.
4. Click “Other Amount.”
5. Under “Other Payment Options,” check the Sept. 27 Incidental Expenses box; the amount should populate for you.
6. Follow the remainder prompts to submit/confirm your payment.

Homecoming 2019 Information
We're also thrilled to be holding an Alumni Mass to conclude Homecoming Week Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE NEW TIME!) Fr. Long will celebrate Mass on campus, and then we will serve a light lunch and hold school tours for alumni of St. Louis Catholic, St. Charles Academy, Landry Memorial and Sacred Heart. All are welcome!

New Teacher Spotlight - Adison Giambrone
We are very excited to spotlight the faculty members who joined the faculty at St. Louis Catholic this school year! Miss Giambrone joined the team this summer as head softball coach and environmental science teacher.
1. Hometown? Richmond, Texas
2. How many years teaching? Both my parents were educators, so I've grown up in a classroom. I graduated from McNeese in 2018 w/ an MBA, and I previously worked at Tee Doan-Robichaux State Farm as an insurance account specialist. I've been coaching sports for six years and playing different sports since I was 4.
3. Favorite quote? "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou
4. Favorite food? Tacos
5. What will we most likely find you doing on a weekend? I'm always around town! I might be working out, at the mall, at a local sporting event, or coaching! I try to get around town as much as possible on the weekends.
6. Where do you hope to make an impact at St. Louis Catholic? I am most looking forward to getting to know my students and athletes and pray that I can impact their lives by being a positive light.
