From the Principal's Office
Happy Friday and welcome to Spring Break!
I hope you are able to enjoy some much needed relaxation and time together as a family over spring break. Please remember that Tuesday, April 6th is Election day and Teacher Institute Day, with no student attendance. Students will resume school on April 7th, with students following our Wednesday schedule.
Phase 3 will begin on Wednesday when students return as well. See more information below for the Phase 3 plan.
Finally, registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. We are anticipating students returning to school 5 days a week for full days. Please register your child(ren), so we can plan for this upcoming year.
As always, reach out to myself or our main office if you have any questions.
2021-2022 Returning Student Registration
Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open in Tyler for returning students. Some components of the registration process are not functional on a mobile device at this time. To register, please use a computer. When the mobile application is working without issue we will let you know.
Return to school in August will resume full-time, five days per week. Students who qualify for an exemption from in-person attendance based upon medical need of the student or a housemate will require a medical provider to complete an exemption request form and return it to the district. The form and instructions will be distributed in April, though registration should still be completed at this time.
Traveling Internationally During Spring Break?
The SD 308 Safety Plan aligns with the CDC and IDPH travel guidance and requirements. When arriving in the United States from a foreign country, individuals should get tested 3-5 days after travel and stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel. Even if the test is negative, individuals should stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days. If individuals opt to not get tested, they should stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
Additionally, the CDC order requires all passengers flying into the US on an international flight get tested no more than 3 days before travel and show the negative result to the airline before boarding the flight, or be prepared to show documentation of recovery (proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating the individual is cleared to travel).
The school district requires that all students and staff who travel internationally disclose this information to the district and abide by the required self-quarantine. Failure to comply with this or any other component of the district’s Safety Plan may result in disciplinary action.
A Message from our Home and School
The Masked Reader - We have joined forces with the wonderful Mrs. Witwicki and HC staff to put on a month-long event called “The Masked Reader”. We have now seen all 5 Masked Readers! If you haven’t seen these, the videos are posted in the LRC Google classrooms for each grade level and the students have had the opportunity to view the videos throughout the week. Next Wednesday is the big reveal!!
Raffle Prizes - We will be raffling off some prizes in April to help earn money to help increase technology at Hunt Club! If you have something you would be willing to donate as a prize, please respond to this email. We would love to include local items in our raffle!
Join Our Board!! - Our last meeting of the year is in April, and that is when we hold elections for next year’s positions. As of now, we do not have any candidates for two of the positions, and one is President. We really need people for these positions so that Home & School can function next year!
Here are the open positions to consider for next year (minimum 1 year, maximum 2 year commitment):
*President (set calendar, set budget with treasurer, run meetings, select yearly fundraiser, oversee and manage events and committees)
*Second Vice President (spirit wear, manage four quarterly meals for staff)
Please let us know if you can help. You will not be alone, there will be current board members to help guide and support you, all year, in whichever position you choose. Home & School is run completely by parent volunteers just like you. Being a Home & School Executive Board Member gives you the greatest opportunity to make a contribution and difference at your child's school. As always, thank you for your support!
Our next meeting is on Tuesday, April 13th at 7 pm. Use this google meet link to join: https://meet.google.com/qvi-ndjk-dyy
Teacher/Staff Shout-Outs - Each month, Home & School will take the names of the teachers and staff members who received “shout-outs” and enter them in a drawing. The February winner was drawn and Ms. Copeland was the winner! She will receive a goodie bag of some chocolates and a gift card to Amazon. Keep submitting the “shout-outs” to our lovely HC teachers and staff so they can both see how much we appreciate them and so that they can be entered in future drawings! Here is the link to submit the “shout-outs”: https://forms.gle/KhvwwetEpgWsa66CA
Don't forget that mask!
Updates to Elementary Gifted Education Screening Process for School Year 2021-22:
Dental Examination Required for all kinder and 2nd grade parents!
Dental Examination
Required for Kindergarten and 2nd grade
In the fall of 2005, the State of Illinois began requiring a complete dental examination for students in kindergarten and 2nd grade.
Students in kindergarten and 2nd grade for the school year 2020-2021 need an examination dated on or after November 15, 2019 to meet this requirement. You may call and ask your dentist to fill out the form on any exam completed since that time.
Call your dentist today to make an appointment, as the appointments fill up quickly. Please contact the nurse if a lack of insurance is keeping you from obtaining a dental exam. Again, a dental exam is a part of the health requirements per the State of Illinois. Completed forms may be sent with your student to school, or faxed directly to my office at the number below.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Nurse Randi at 630-636-2802 or rspinelli@sd308.org.
