Gator Greetings
It was fantastic to see so many families at Literacy Night last night. Students were able to enjoy reading, writing, puppet making, create art, make books, enjoy poetry, sing karaoke, act out stories, book shop and more. Thank you to our wonderful PTO for helping to fund our special guest presenters, poet Tony Styxx and puppeteer Mel “Mellypop”. At Allisonville, we know that reading is a life skill that can be cultivated and enjoyed in many ways. We celebrated just some of those ways at Literacy Night, all while have SO.MUCH.FUN.
The Scholastic Book Fair will continue next week. Mrs. Weiger is doing a “Fill the Bucket” grade level challenge. All money raised will go directly back to provide books for students at Allisonville from the Book Fair. Don’t forget to include tax in your payment as well. Volunteers are still needed and you can sign up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F4AA8AA28A57-scholastic
Students will begin NWEA testing next week for both reading and math. This is an important assessment that helps teachers learn the growth students have made from August to December. It also helps teachers plan for each individual student’s needs looking forward to next semester. We ask students to do their best and try hard so that their NWEA data is accurate. As a school, we also use this data to help us set goals and work to improve our instruction as educators. Parents will be able to access NWEA data in January via Skyward.
Student Ambassadors are sponsoring a Month of Giving to encourage students to give in a variety of ways during December. This kicks off with a Hat and Mitten Drive, followed by a Canned Food Drive, and concludes with Candy Grams. Please consider donating a pair of gloves/mittens or a warm hat next week. Items will be displayed on our Hat and Mitten Tree in the cafeteria. The following week, Ambassadors are challenging all students to bring in at least one canned good per student for the Canned Food Drive to benefit the Crooked Creek Food Pantry in our district. Items will be displayed in the front lobby starting December 12th. The last week before winter break, Ambassadors will help to spread friendship and joy by selling and distributing Candy Grams to friends around our school. Students can purchase Candy Grams for $1.00 during their lunch period.

AVPTO Updates
We are excited that our Allisonville Directories have been printed and delivered to the oldest child in each family. Every family will have one copy. We are so grateful to J.Everett Light (JEL) print shop at North Central for printing these directories at no cost to the PTO! Additionally, please take a look at the many sponsors listed in the Directory. Without their community support, we would not be able to fund as many of the wonderful events and drives at Allisonville. We are so thankful for each and every one of our sponsors!
Gator Giving Drive
This giving season, the PTO has been sponsoring a drive for items needed to help students and families of Allisonville. Although collection boxes have been pulled from the front, you are still welcome and encouraged to help our fellow families by donating through the Gator Giving Fund. Any and all contributions are appreciated! Through the resourcing of our School Social Worker, Miss Williamson, these items and money donated will be distributed to use throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
