HSE Schools Community Bulletin Board
Want to know what new and exciting things are happening in 2018? Check out the CBB!
HSE Schools has created a Community Bulletin Board on its district website. This will serve as a central location to find information about activities and events promoted by organizations that serve our students and their families. This is where the Fishers Library, YMCA, S.P.O.R.T.S. and other groups' registration information will be located.
Congrats to our Lady Falcons ~ 2018 Intermediate Basketball Champions!!
Creating Positive Relationships (CPR)
Creating Positive Relationships (CPR) will be hosting a Parent Seminar for 5th grade parents on Tuesday, February 27 from 6-7pm in the cafeteria. At this parent support meeting, you will learn strategies to begin conversations to help your child navigate the changes that occur physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially during puberty. While this evening is designed for 5th grade parents specifically, all parents are welcome.
Actual CPR lessons will not be taught in 5th grade, but will be taught in 6th grade during PE class. More information on the 6th grade CPR lessons will be provided in the coming weeks.
Important Safety Item Reminders

- Photo ID - Whether picking up or dropping off, please have photo ID such as your driver's license ready for identification purposes.
- Door 1 entry - All visitors must enter via door 1 regardless of time of day. Please do not come in the cafeteria door with students before school.
- Bus lot - Do not enter the bus lot prior to bus arrival or while buses are in the lot.

ISTEP Part 1
FCI will be participating in part 1 of Spring ISTEP+ testing on Tuesday, Feb. 27th-Friday, March 2nd. All times are approximates and could vary depending on exact starting times. It is very important that students arrive at school on time and be in attendance during this week. Any student who arrives in the classroom after the start of the test session will not be allowed to start that portion of the test and must make it up at a later date. We certainly understand that appointments can be difficult to re-schedule and therefore we have time built in the following week for make-up testing. If it is possible to reschedule any morning appointments, it would definitely help with your student’s continuity of testing.
Students must have the updated ISTEP+ testing app and a charged iPad on the testing days, as this whole round of testing will be on iPads this year.
Here are some things that you can do to help your child as they prepare to take ISTEP:
- Get plenty of sleep. Being well rested will give you an extra boost of energy for test day.
- Have a good breakfast. Giving mind and body the fuel it needs.
- Double-check your work on the test. Encourage them to proofread their work, and make sure nothing is left blank.
- Use time wisely. Do what you know first and go back to what you are unsure of.
- Try your best to relax. While these tests are important, we don’t want this to be a negative experience for any student.
- Celebrate. Taking and finishing ISTEP is an accomplishment. It’s important that we all let them know how proud we are of their effort and hard work.
TestNav App Update - Time Sensitive & Important!!
- Update your child’s iPad to the latest operating system: If your child is using an iPad 4th generation (or iPad Retina), please make sure the iPad is at iOS 10.3.3.
If you are using an iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, or an iPad, please make sure the iPad is at iOS 11.2.5 (the most recent update). - Install/update testing app: Also, please go to the app store and download the free Pearson TestNav app. The app can be found here:https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/testnav/id818779127?mt=8.
Pearson will be blocking any iPad that is not on iOS 10.3.3 or iOS 11.2.5 to run the Pearson TestNav app due to security reasons.
For more information on how to update an iPad wirelessly or hardwired via iTunes (popular choice if the iPad is low on space) please see the following link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204.
Should you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out to the FCI office staff who will connect you with our building technician. Thank you!

ATTENTION ALL 6th GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS!
The FCJH Band, Choir, and Orchestra Programs WANT YOU! You have an exciting opportunity to participate in band, choir, or orchestra next year at FCJH. Participants will learn how to read music and how to play an instrument or develop your abilities as a vocalist. Classes will meet every day at FCJH just like any other academic class. Every student at FCJH receives SOAR time (comparable to our current SLT time), even the students in a performance ensemble!!!!!
Students who are not currently in band, choir, or orchestra have the opportunity to join at FCJH.
“Research shows that students who participate in musical ensembles at school have higher attendance rates and test scores. Even more, new studies show that making music with peers as part of the school day can lead to increased levels of empathy and can lead to making friends faster!”
All you need to do is put band, choir, or orchestra on your schedule as an elective! Students who are currently in band or orchestra simply need to write down band or orchestra to continue to participate next year!
Grab your friends and don’t miss out on all of the fun! COME BE IN THE PERFORMING ARTS!!
Students in the FCJH Band, Choir, and Orchestra take a trip to Kings Island at the end of the school year!
For questions or more information please contact Mr. Waltz, Mr. Spidel, Ms. Yoder, or Mr. Wirtz!

Falcon Flyer Frequency
Please look for a Skylert to be sent twice a month from FCI providing you with a link to the most recent FALCON FLYER newsletter. This will be how we will keep you up-to-date with events and happenings at FCI. Please feel free to share the link with other FCI families who may have not received the Skylert. In addition, please suggest to them that they verify current contact information in Skyward as this is where information for future Skylerts is pulled from. Communication is extremely important to us, and we value your involvement!
