We miss you all!
I hope this newsletter finds you all well, healthy and adjusting to our new way of life. It certainly has been a big change for us at my house- My parrot Tati is constantly calling and talking aka screaming for more and more attention.
Some of the teachers have tried out video conferencing via Google Meet or Zoom. Others are busily preparing lessons, gathering curriculum and completing training this week in preparation for Phase II online learning. Staff was at Parkmead today gathering everything they'll need in order to teach. It was great to see our school family, even if it was from a distance. I hope you have been able to connect with some of your classmates over the phone, FaceTime or a Zoom session.
Although we realize that we won't be able to come back to school in person after Spring Break, we are excited to start teaching again. Your teachers are hard at work this week doing training, setting up accounts and doing demo sessions so we can be ready to roll with distance learning on April 6. Your students will be so excited.
This morning all TK and Kindergarten students were invited to have a "virtual lunch" with the principal. I was so happy to see over 45 of my favorite lunch bunch friends again. It was so great to share a virtual hug, read a story about hugs, and even sing a song about four hugs a day - that's the minimum. I hope families got some extra hugs today from their littles!
I can't wait to have lunch with the first graders! Look for a 1st grade lunch invitation to parents via text for a Friday @11:30 am 1st-grade lunch bunch.

We are upping our techy game! Not only are we on Venmo (@WCEFk12) to make donating easier than ever (wink wink), but did you also know that we have awesome Facebook (@WCEF Walnut Creek Education Foundation) and Instagram (@wcefk12) pages? That’s right! On social media, we share info about our schools, our students, and educational tidbits. We also try to lighten the load with funny parenting memes to keep you laughing every week. Follow us! We think we’re rather witty.
Summer is Around the Corner
We’ve compiled a list of kid-approved summer camps for all ages that also support our schools. From sports to science and everything in between. Check out our amazing partners that support WCEF. And just like that, we made your summer planning a little bit easier. Check out our Summer Camp Guide!
The Clock is Ticking - Donate Today
With just about 10 weeks left in the school year, we are rapidly approaching the finish line. WCEF is committed and passionate about what we do and what we are able to offer our students. With that being said, we can’t do this without you. Every donation, every matched donation, every dine-out, etc. gets us successfully across the finish line. Help us reach our goal of $1.25 million so that we can continue to elevate our children’s education beyond what the state provides. Let’s do this together. DONATE.
