Week 2 Term 2, Friday 13 May
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora Families
This week our new class councillors, from year 3-6, were elected. The councillors will represent their classes, along with our house leaders, at school council meetings. At the meetings they will put forward ideas and suggestions for the school to consider. Congratulations on your appointment children, I'm sure you will do a great job!
A reminder that school will be closed for a teacher only day on Friday 3 June. Our staff will be undertaking further professional development in structured literacy. Our provider is Christine Braid, from Massey University, who is a well regarded expert in literacy. 'School's Out' - the after school care provider, will be open for those parents who require supervision. Please contact Logan directly if you need to book your child in for this day.
We start the school wide Keeping Ourselves Safe programme next week. Please see below for detailed information about the components of the programme. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
Have a lovely weekend.

Keeping Ourselves Safe - Schoolwide Personal Safety Programme
Keeping Ourselves Safe has been designed to give students the skills to cope in situations where children's safety is at risk. It has three overall aims:
● to develop and strengthen children’s skills to keep themselves safe with other people;
● to support and encourage children to get help from caring adults;
● to make teachers and parents/caregivers more aware of the need to keep children safe from harm by adults or other children.
Keeping Ourselves Safe will be taught by your child’s teacher, with support from the local Police School Community Officer as required.
It is important that you participate as much as possible and talk to your child about what they have been learning. This will help reinforce the messages the school is giving, and help your child to use their new skills with confidence.
Please contact the school if you would like any more information about the programme OR if you think that there is something we need to know.
Regards
