This publication showcases construction progress made across the district. The projects listed are the result of the successful April 2021 referendum, in which residents voted to approve $98 million in facilities updates at all eight HSSD schools. Classrooms

The classrooms on the west side of second floor Area C are taking shape. In progress: overhead and in-wall MEP, along with drywall by Verhalen.

Freezer

The slab for the walk-in cooler/freezer has been poured. This slab is intentionally poured lower than the surrounding slab so that the cooler/freezer panels can be installed recessed. The slab will then be poured up to subfloor height inside the cooler/freezers after the panels are installed.

Water Closet

The water closet and mechanical room walls have been installed. These rooms are adjacent to the maintenance garage.

Flooring and Roofing

Precast plank has been installed over the main entrance corridor, first floor fitness room, and PE storage areas in the gym addition.

What's Next

  • Pouring more areas to raise up the floor in Areas C and D.
  • Walls and soffits will continue to be framed in Area C.
  • Shoring and structural steel installation will occur as we build the new second floor Collaboration Room area.
  • Ceiling grid in Area D will begin, along with more interior masonry walls on top of the newly poured raised slabs.
  • Setting precast plank in the gym addition will finish and the masons will begin installing second floor masonry walls on top of the plank areas.

New Gym

The west wall of the new gym (Area D) is complete and braced. The masons are relocating their scaffolding to start on the other walls.

Stairs

Bar joists on the mechanical mezzanine are set and the stairs are installed for access to this area.

Drywall

Drywall finishing has started in Area D.

Locker Rooms

The slab on grade pour in the locker rooms is complete in Area D.

What's Next

  • Masons will continue to work on the new walls of the gym.
  • Steel stud framing and drywall continues.
  • MEP testing is starting so that the insulators can follow behind.
  • Drywall hanging will continue in Area B.
  • Window replacements will begin.
