Plains Art Museum Features McKinley Artists

The School Spirit: Celebrating Youth Art Month, now in its 20th year, showcases the talents of regional K-12 art students from area schools in a variety of media. This Plains Art Museum exhibition celebrates the region's emerging artists and promotes awareness of the vital work done by art educators. Art education develops self-esteem, appreciation for the work of others, creative problem-solving, communications, and critical-thinking skills; all vital to the success of today's youth.

McKinley fifth grader, Jesse Sisco and fourth grader, Dorothy Sorenson are featured in the exhibition and will attend the School Spirit Art Reception on Sunday, March 13 from 1-4 p.m. Jesse made an identity shield; a Native American craft which symbolizes an individuals life with a symbol for a wish, something or someone special to them, a special event, and a hobby. Dorothy made a dream catcher to catch her bad dreams and allow good dreams to fall down from the feathers upon her. Congratulations to both students!
