A Message From Mrs. O'Shaughnessy
I hope everyone had a wonderful week this week. It was a busy one! And Halloween on a Monday, oh boy. It is shaping up to be another full, but wonderful upcoming week.
This past week was a great return to what we know and love, even for me. Our monthly principal meeting, held by Dr. Chan, our Superintendent, was a visit to a neighboring school, where not only I, but other district 24 school leaders visited classrooms and met as a team to plan. It was so purposeful for me to see other practices, and discuss with fellow leaders. I was at PS/IS 119, and I even ran into our graduates who attend IS 119 now.
We had families join us in school this week for many events as well. Ms. Wang-Silonga provided an opportunity for a hands on activity based on the book Wonderful Worms in classes, our Family Pumpkin event, courtesy of the Italian-American Federation of Brooklyn and Queens, a Family Movie Night, and our monthly SLT meeting.
Our movie night was FABULOUS! Thank you all for coming out. It was wonderful seeing you all, having the time to talk, meet other families, classmates and have fun! So many more to come!

PS 88Q Celebrates The World Cup. ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
Our amazing Social Justice and SMILE Committees have created a great way to get PS 88Q into the World Cup Spirit! We are proud to have our own Soccer Club, coached by Mr. Anthony Andrew, but now ALL OF OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY can be involved.
For the next month, students will learn about their host country. The Social Justice and SMILE Committee will then distribute activities related to the World Cup and their host country. Our school will proudly display the flags of all of the countries.
Each teacher randomly picked their classrooms host country. Below is the video, which features soccer songs from past and present World Cup Championships, along with some soccer tips. Watch the fun video below to see what country your child's classroom will be 'hosting".
Our School Leadership Team Wants To Hear From You!
Our School Leadership Team meets once a month to discuss, plan and implement all things related to our schools CEP (Comprehensive Educational Plan). The SLT represent all members of the school community. At this months meeting, we created a survey for our families to share their voice. Please take a minute to complete the survey. It will our work this week to implement what you would like to see, or perhaps contribute, to PS 88Q.

PS 88Q Students Forever
Mr. Canales , Mr. Anthony and I had a Halloween surprise visit this past week! As you can see in the video, the Admin at IS 77 got all our sixth and seventh graders (8th didn't have lunch that period) in the auditorium to watch Mr. Canales' epic Cat in the Hat video. Little did they know, they were part 2!
After the initial surprise, we all talked about the transition, life at 77 and most importantly if they had a "go to" person at IS 77. They all did. 88 taught them well! How lucky are we to be part of their journey. Check out the video below. This is the work!
