Thank you to those who have already registered! Please sign up for an upcoming date if you can. We love having our dads join us at WC!
Wolf's Crossing WATCH D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students)
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that helps bring dads and other male role models into the school. Dads spend a day with their child at school and get to interact alongside the educators to help with lunchroom helpers, playground and gymnasium helpers. The possibilities are endless and the experiences will last a lifetime.
The two primary goals of the program are:
*To provide positive male role models who, by their very presence, show a respect for the importance of education.
*To enhance school security and reduce bullying.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Any male father figure in the student's lives is asked to spend part of their day at their student’s school volunteering. We will be having Watch D.O.G.S. at the school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Fridays. (maximum of 4 D.O.G.S. per day)
(The adult needs to be a current and existing contact in the child's TYLER portal for security reasons)

5 Essential Survey Coming Soon!
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers will be conducted January 24 through March 31. Our district also participates in the Parent Survey Supplement, which will be conducted during that same timeframe. This annual survey is an important tool for us, providing a glimpse into the current perception of students, teachers and parents. Prior research has shown that schools strong on three or more of the 5Essentials were 10 times more likely to improve student learning gains than schools weak on three or more of the Essentials.
Wondering what the Essentials are?
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
Please take the time to complete the parent survey when it begins, without a minimum participation, the results for each school are not shared. Principals and superintendents will receive their 5Essentials Reports in May 2023. Survey results will also be reported publicly on the 5Essentials reporting site in Spring 2023 and on the State School Report Card website in Fall 2023. If you have any questions about 5Essentials you can contact your school principal, or learn more about the survey platform online here.
Links to the parent survey and information about the student survey (grades 4-12) will be sent out next week.

We are excited for a NEW event this year. . . . PJ's and Popcorn movie night!
Using some of the money from this year's Fun Run that we raised for exciting community events we were able to purchase some new indoor/ outdoor MOVIE NIGHT equipment!

VIP Dance:
Also keep an eye out for more info on our VIP Dance- we're sure your student will be able to make some SWEET memories with a very important person in their life.
We are excited to revise our Daddy Daughter Dance to include all students. After 2 years of not being able to host this event and not being able to host our traditional Mother Son night we are merging the Mother/ Son and Daddy/ Daughter into one VIP dance.
More info coming soon but we are excited for all WC students to be able to pick an important adult in their life to make some SWEET memories with.
Upcoming Events- WE NEED YOUR HELP:

Email Ptawolfscrossing@gmail.com if you're interested in helping plan this event!

We would love to plan a family breakfast event before school with donuts/ muffins/ etc and some family fun to start the school day off right. “A Book is a Present You Can Open Again and Again”
The Wolf’s Crossing Birthday Book Club is fun way to celebrate your child’s birthday and fill our library with great books for all students to enjoy. In honor of your child’s birthday (or half birthday), we invite you to donate a book of your choosing to our school library. Your child can choose to donate their favorite picture book (hardcover), chapter book, or non-fiction book (hardcover).
It’s as easy as 1-2-3
Donate
Simply purchase a book (hard cover only) to donate to the LRC and have your child bring the book and Birthday Book Club form to school at least 2 weeks before their birthday to the LRC. You may pick from our Amazon Book Wishlist, if you want some ideas of books our library needs.
Not sure what title to donate? Let us choose for your child! Send in $15 (the average cost of a hardback book) and we will purchase a new book for them. Your child may suggest a book they have wanted to read or we can help choose a new title that our library needs.
Celebrate
We will place a commemorative sticker with your child’s name in the front of the book.
Your child gets to be the first one to check out the book from the LRC.
A picture of your student with their book will be shared on the Wolf’s Crossing Facebook Page and the Wolfs Crossing Lrc Wolverines Facebook Page to also celebrate.
Joy!
As the year passes, your child will enjoy seeing other students check out “their” book from the LRC.
If you would like to join the Birthday Book Club, please complete the Birthday Book Club form and return it to the Wolf’s Crossing LRC with a book of your choosing or your check for $15 as soon as possible. Please make checks payable to Wolf’s Crossing Elementary. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Mahoney, LRC Specialist at 630-636-3703 or email at cmahoney@sd308.org .
Thank you for supporting our Library!
