Language Arts
Master letter recognition
Connect sounds to letters
Apply letter/sound knowledge to writing
Continue practicing sight words
Children should be slowly sounding out words so they can practice applying their knowledge of letters and sounds in their writing. For example, school might be spelled skl. As your child gains confidence in writing, he/she will begin to write more and become more accurate with spelling.
The writing process begins with simply labeling pictures, then moves to simple sentences, and eventually leads to more complex sentences with added details. Remember, practice makes perfect!
