Need to Knows
For all new staff/new grade level staff: October 26 is the deadline for having your Growth Plan completed in Talent Ed. This is only for NEW STAFF even though all staff have the notice on their TalentEd profile.
Bulletin boards need to be updated and/or ready for conferences! Use your bulletin boards to display great student work! Parents will love seeing these at conferences next week. Be sure to remind students to be KAHFOOTY to bulletin boards.
If a parent contacts you for a conference change, please update that in the Google Sheet! Mrs. Milhollin will be available to sit in on conferences on Thursday, Oct. 22. Dr. Wilson will be available to sit in on conferences on Monday, Oct. 26. Please check the Google Sheet for availability!
Matrix Market help needed! Please request in your newsletter for a bag of candy, or other trinkets (seasonal items, pencils, erasers, etc...) for your classroom Matrix Markets. We are OUT of stock and waiting until the next Spirit Sucker sales before we can purchase anything!
Grades should be updated in Infinite Campus every Tuesday. When you have assessed a standard, enter the rubric score in IC.
Share/send/give your Math Unit Pre/Post test results with Dr. Wilson.
Digital Literacy Wall - please make sure at your next Teamwork Tuesday that your team has updated the wall to reflect beginning of the year scores. If you have students who have IEPs, 504s, are ELL, EER, etc... Please make a note by clicking in the name box for that student and adding a note.
Officer Martin is happy to come to classrooms to read books or have discussions with your class. Please email him at les.martin@jcschools.us if you are interested.
LITERACY UNITS OF STUDY PRESENTATIONS
Grades K-1, Thursday, October 15
Grades 2-3, Monday, October 19
Grades 4-5, Monday, November 2
Location: Dix Education Center, 4:15-5:15
The purpose of this session is to look at the revision work completed over the summer to enhance the reading and writing Units of Study. We will highlight the revisions that were made for each grade level and showcase the available resources for Unit 1. We will also walk you through the digital organization of the documents on Google Drive and explain the plans for posting the remaining Units of Study. This Drive folder is a place to collaborate with your grade level team across the district by providing an easy way to share resources with each other for reading, writing, math, science, social studies, classroom management, and more. Time will be provided for you to talk as a grade level team about how your grade level would like to use your Drive folder for ongoing collaboration. Please join us to learn more about the collaborative grade level Drive folder and all the available resources for supporting literacy instruction in your classroom. Let Dr. Wilson know who is attending.

#jcedchat is October 20
This year’s first #jcedchat will occur at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 20 on Twitter. Our first #jcedchat topic for this year will be Growing and Empowering JC Graduates. All JCPS employees are encouraged to participate by sharing ideas about how we are building successful students pre-K through 12th grade across the district.
#jcedchat is co-moderated by Jeff Luttrell (@JeffersonPinata) and Emily Vallandingham (@mle_val). To participate, tweet to #jcedchat and join in on the conversation. If you can’t make the #jcedchat, you can also catch up on the discussion via Storify, which will be tweeted out on following the conversation.
Email or tweet to Jeff or Emily if you have questions. We are really looking forward to a great conversation across the district concerning the efforts and successes teachers, support staff, and administrators.
