Comet Connection

End of the Year Edition

Principal's Message

Greetings,

We only have a few days until summer is upon us. So, as we prepare for the end of the school year, I wanted to give you some information about our upcoming events.

Grade Level Field Days will be held on the last three days of school. Only parent volunteers will be allowed to participate in or observe field day. No siblings or observers will be allowed to attend. This restriction is due to space and activity constraints. If you want to volunteer with your child's class, please contact your child's teacher. They will supply a list of volunteers to our front office, which in turn will send volunteers to field day. All volunteers must bring a picture ID to check into our school. If you do not bring a picture ID, you will not be able to volunteer.

Our school-wide picnic is on May 24. You are invited to join us as we eat outside during grade levels' regularly scheduled lunchtimes listed below. Unfortunately, supply chain issues have hit our cafeteria, and we can only provide enough food for our students. So, guests will need to bring their food if they plan to eat with their children. You should also bring chairs, a towel or blanket for seating. Younger or older siblings are also invited to participate. All adults checking into our building must always bring a picture id as part of our new safety protocols. Please park at the Church on Main or in the South Gwinnett High School Student Parking Lot next to Britt Elementary on Skyland. May 24 is also election day, and our cafeteria is a polling place.

We are currently collecting and inventorying our Chromebooks, Chromebook cords, and hot spots. Please make sure that you have sent in those items. Students with lost or damaged Chromebooks or Chromebook cords will be fined. Those fines will be sent by email.

Students should bring their empty bookbags to school on May 25, the last day. Your child's bookbag has his/her transportation tag, which is how we know students are getting home.

Please watch your email for updates or information as we move through these last few days.

Best regards,

Melissa Madsen

Principal
