NAMI will provide training on Ending the Silence for School Staff. This is a one-hour presentation for teachers and other school personnel to raise their awareness about mental illness, help them recognize the early warning signs, and reinforce the importance in the lives of their students, this presentation opens the door for schools to make a difference.
Topics include: understanding the difference between "bad behavior" and symptoms of a mental health condition, recognizing early warning signs, communicating effectively with familes, linking to community resources quickly, and creating a supportive learning environment for all students.
The purpose of this training will be to assist you in informing teachers and other staff members on the importance of recognizing early warning signs and the fundamental necessity of creating relationships with students.
