Sarah Thomas, Keynote Speaker
Nominated as one of the “20 to Watch” by the National School Boards Association, Sarah Thomas is a force to be reckoned with in the growing field of Education Technology. She is an active blogger and founder of EduMatch project, inspiring collaborations without boundaries. In 2014 she was the winner of the 2014 Digital Innovation and Learning Award. She currently is a Technology Education teacher at Oxon Hill High School. She is also a doctoral candidate with a major in Education at George Mason University.
Her love for technology in education stems from her love of social media and technology and now she uses both as a tool to be able to connect with other educators. Her blog, Sarahdateechur.com is where she shares her experiences such as classroom flipping and gamification. The experiences in the classroom are what led her to develop The Edumatch project, in September 2014. This project was designed to facilitate global connections between teachers sharing similar interests to meet the needs of students around the world. Edumatch has grown since the initial launch, reaching users across five continents, and still growing.

Keynote Presentation - 9:00-9:45am
Sarah Thomas
Room - Kiva
With seven billion people in the world, we each represent a tiny dot...but what a beautiful picture we make when we begin to connect! Sarah Thomas, founder of EduMatch, outlines the story behind the magical moment when the project emerged sporadically from a conversation with a fellow educator. Follow the evolution of this series of grassroots connections, which has spread internationally. By the end of the session, educators will be encouraged to seize their own "magical moments," and to fuel these through the power of connectivity.
