Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
February 20, 2020
Dear Parents,
This time of year at school is one of my favorites. It is a quiet time when there is not much distraction to the classroom schedule and teaching is not often interrupted. We cherish the quiet days on our calendar!
Here are some happenings at school:
- Our 5th and 6th grade students are busy presenting their Solar System and Space projects in Mrs. McDermott's Science class. What wonderful visual representations they have collaborated upon!
- The kindergarten students in Dr. McPhillips class are busy comparing and contrasting earthworms and gummy worms as a part of their Science lesson.
- Our 4th grade students are busy preparing for their Good Shepherd Play which will be held on Wednesday, March 18th.
- Over the long weekend, new water stations were installed on A and C levels. Students can get a drink from the new fountain or fill their personal water bottles. Our thanks and appreciation once again to our P.I.E. organization for funding this project!
- We are experiencing an elevated level of illness among our student body. Please do not send your child to school sick as all other staff and students are exposed. A child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please pack some extra napkins in your child's lunchbag so that they do not place their lunch directly on the table. Encourage good hand washing habits. All of these efforts will go a long way in keeping our students healthy.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
