How do students earn a PAWS lunch opportunity?/¿Cómo ganan los estudiantes una oportunidad de almuerzo PAWS?
Each month, teachers submit 3 names of students that have demonstrated PAWS behaviors, consistently! A name is then drawn out during the assembly by Mrs. Hafey. The students drawn will then take a walking field trip to a decided upon place (McDonalds, TB/KFC, Pizza Hut, Wendy's).

The Power of the Bulldog Notebook/El Poder del Cuaderno de Bulldog
Needing YOUR Help....
It is imperative that you ask for and check your for your child's Bulldog Notebook EVERY night! In the early grades (Kindergarten - 3rd) a book is sent home that is at your child's reading ability. If your child struggles with reading, there may be a set of word cards to run through each night as well.
These books are matched to your child's learning level, targeting a very specific skill. Please take a few moments and read with your child. If you do this each school night, you are empowering your child to be successful in school.
The Bulldog Notebook is also a communication tool that keeps the lines of communication lines open between home and school. Be sure to help get this book back to school each day, as your child/children are held accountable for this!
If you have any questions in regards to this communication tool, please stop by and see Mrs. Hafey. If you have not seen this notebook and are wondering what this is, please call or email Mrs. Hafey, and she will do some checking as to why you have not seen this notebook.

Thank you for your help and support with this matter.
Lunches/Almuerzos
Needing YOUR Help...
Lunch is such an important part of a child's day! It is fuel for their brain, it gives them the energy needed to finish out the day! Expectations are high, therefore, we need them to be eating a healthy lunch. We have noticed an increase in pops, lots of sugary items in lunches, and very little protein. This is causing issues in the afternoons - students are loosing steam, getting cranky, and not able to sustain the rigor that is expected of them. Please limit the amount of sugary items they bring to school, replace them with foods high in protein and vitamins.
If your child packs his/her own lunch, please take a moment and check these periodically.
Thank you for your support with this matter! If you have any questions, please give Mrs. Hafey a call!
Necesitando tu ayuda ...
Every Minute Counts - Attendance and Tardy Concerns/Cada minuto cuenta - Asistencia y preocupaciones tardías
Please be mindful of Absences and Tardies or early check outs and late check ins... Small group interventions and whole group instruction starts promptly at 8:00am. If your child is 10-15 minutes late or leave early, they risk missing out on that intervention support that cannot be made up. Whole group instruction also starts right at 8:00am and goes up until 3:24.
As you are scheduling events - please know that time out of the classroom may or may not be able to be made up, putting that burden back on home.
If attendance/tardy becomes a concern of the teacher, you will be receiving a letter from the school. Please reach out if things are happening, I would prefer to work as a team to figure things out then proceed with the necessary paperwork that this may cause.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mrs. Hafey
Gracias,
Señora hafey
Absences - Ketch Up Folders - What is the Expectation in regards to Absences and Missed Work?
When your child/children are absent, their teachers will be collecting/organizing their work in a Ketch Up folder to help the student catch up. This will often times be sent home to be finished at home with support.
Please know that the time lost in class can often times not be re-created by just a worksheet.
Please let Mrs. Hafey or your child's classroom teacher know if you have questions in regards to this.
Math Help - Support - How can YOU help at School?/Ayuda de Matemáticas - Apoyo - ¿Cómo puedes TÚ ayudar en la escuela?
If you have 5 minutes to spare 3-4 times per week, it would be super helpful to run through a set of math flashcards - depending on the age - addition, subtraction, and/or multiplication cards! First - fifth grade students all have a Moby Max log in, so this is another extremely beneficial resource that can be practiced at home (if you have internet and a device). We are noticing that a large majority of our students do not have math fact recall. If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade student they MUST know their facts. They will not have the time to count out each fact as they move into fractions, decimals, and division!
If you have any questions, in regards to this, please reach out to your child's teacher or to Mrs. Hafey. Thank you for your support with this.
Hafey. Gracias por su apoyo con esto.
