From the Desk of Dr. Ricks
Parents and Friends,
It has been so good seeing so many of you around campus. We have been busy preparing for our fall events--Grandparent's Day, Book Fair, Evergreen Sales, and our first Grace Cross Country meet. These are much-anticipated events at Grace, and we hope that you will get involved at any level. We love and welcome your support!
With regard to that school work, homework and tests have started in earnest as we are fast approaching the middle of the first quarter. If your family is like mine, reviewing homework and preparing for tests took some time management on our part. Except for our preschool friends, everyone has a bit more homework this year than last. This is as it should be, but the first weeks can seem especially difficult. As the Head of School, I can assure you that your teachers' expectations of your children are reasonable and appropriate. As a parent, I can agree that it doesn't always feel that way! But, as a teacher-leader, I am encouraged by the thoughtfulness that our teachers put into their assignments, and their willingness to make adjustments when necessary. Please do not hesitate to contact your teachers if you feel confused or unsure about anything within classroom procedures.
Have a great weekend,
Dr. Ricks

Jesus Jargon
They are simple phrases. They sound Christian— like something you might find in the Bible. More than likely we have heard these words. Perhaps we have said them. They capture some element of truth, yet some miss the point in important ways. Grab a cup of coffee and join Fr. Richard in Kilbourne Parlor from 9:15am-10am for five Sundays (September 10th, 17th, 24th; October 1st & 8th) as we will search for the whole truth by comparing some common Christian sayings with the wisdom found in Scripture.
Theology on Tuesdays Change of Date and Venue
Our next Theology on Tuesdays will be held at the Flying Tiger Brewery, located at 506 N. 2nd St. in Monroe, on Tuesday, October 3rd, at 6:00pm. (We will not have this event for the month of September.) Join us for a discussion of relative, contemporary, and practical topics with a Christian perspective, all while sharing a pint of Monroe’s own micro-brewed lager. Because this venue can accommodate more people, it is no longer necessary to sign up either online or through the church office. Just join us on October 3rd!

Meet our Teachers
Sarah Green- Spanish
Get to know Senorita Green in 3 questions:
1. How many years have you been teaching?
This is my first year teaching in a classroom.
2. Tell us about your family.
I am the fourth of my five siblings, with three older sisters and a younger brother. Our mother is the rock of our family. Our late father taught us well how to work and to use what we have to get the job done. I have three beautiful sons, ages 8, 6, and 2, and two adorable nephews, ages 7 and 4.
3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I can speak, read, and write French as well.
BIENVENIDO SENORITA GREEN!
