Junior High Book Club Discusses The Cay

Sixteen junior high students feasted on coconut, coconut milk, chocolate bars, "gold fish" and other treats at the discussion of The Cay. After examining a map of the area featured in the story plot, students discussed their favorite part of the story, the distance traveled and the relationship between the castaways.

New Display Brings Seventh Graders to the Library

It's book report time for English 7 and Mrs. Niland was ready for the students. New books were purchased to cover the Lexile ratings of all 7th graders ranging from 300L to 1140L. Book reports involve a lot more than just reading and enjoying the book. Students identify the setting, protagonist, antagonist, theme, conflict, rising action, climax, and resolution.

The Big Read....Vietnam Veterans Speak

Wednesday, March 12th, 2:30pm

JR/SR HS Library

Two veterans, Gilbert Ramirez, Topeka and Ron Zink, Tecumseh, will speak to those students who are reading the latest Book Club selection, The Things They Carried. They will share their experiences during the Vietnam war and show the things they used and carried in the war. Thanks to Mr. Konda for arranging our speakers' visit.
