A Message from Ms. Santa
Today at 8:46 AM, students, faculty, and staff had a moment of silence to honor those people and their family members that lost their lives on September 11, 2001. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
"Never forget. A time to remember those who died, those who served, and those who carry on."

Important Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders
Drop-Off
- The drop-off line is a continuously moving line. Please do not park in the staff parking spaces along Interschool Drive to drop off your child(ren). Children are exiting their vehicles and heading towards the sidewalk, and this causes an unsafe walking zone.
- Parent(s)/Guardian(s) should not exit the vehicle. If your child(ren) need assistance, the staff members are there to help.
- Please do not use the right lane to drop off your child(ren). This lane is designated for cars moving through to the exit.
Pick-Up
- Please arrange a meeting area with your child(ren) so that you can locate them efficiently.
- Please do not park and/or exit your vehicle regardless of your child(ren) being at TBD or CDW.
- Please do not block designated emergency lanes that connect TBD and CDW.
General Traffic Rules Regarding Parking
- Never park in a "No Parking, Fire Lane." These lanes are designated with yellow paint in diagonal lines on the pavement along with the words, "No Parking Fire Lane."
- Never park along a curb that is painted yellow and leave your vehicle unattended.
- Do not double park (park your vehicle beside another vehicle that is in a designated parking space).
REMINDER: CAR WASH TOMORROW!
The PTO, along with the CDW Class of 2022, will be hosting a car wash tomorrow! See the flyer below for specific information.

Masks!
Please have your child(ren) wear a mask to school each day. Your child(ren) should have extra masks in their backpack. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
The Hallways of CDW
One of the best parts of beginning a new school year are the wonderful bulletin boards being completed in the hallways of CDW. I will continue to feature bulletin boards throughout the Weekly Wrap-Ups. This week's bulletin board can be found outside of the STEM lab.

CDW Media Center Website
Ms. DiPisa would like to introduce the new Media Center Website! We encourage you to take a tour and learn about all of the wonderful happenings going on in our CDW Media Center!
Picture Day
The CDW Picture Day will be on Tuesday, October 19th. The students will bring home a form in the beginning of October that will provide information on how to order pictures of your child(ren). All students will take an individual photo that day, whether a package is purchased or not. There will be retakes in November, and more information about that will be provided at another time.
Morning Drop Off
- Drop-off will continue to be on Interschool Drive.
- For the safety of all students, we ask that you stay in your vehicle at drop-off and dismissal.
- Please do not use the upper faculty parking lot for drop-off/pick-up/or exiting of school grounds during school hours. CDW faculty and BOE-approved bus companies are the only vehicles permitted in the upper lot.
- There will be adult supervision starting at 8:10 AM, and the doors will open at 8:20 AM. If there is inclement weather, students will be ushered into the school gymnasiums.
- The students in Grades 5 & 6 will line up on the blacktop in the back of the school near the basketball courts.
- The students in Grades 7 & 8 will line up on the blacktop by the 7th and 8th Grade Wing Exterior Door.
New Jersey Standardized Testing Update: Start Strong
As mentioned in Dr. Da Giau's OT District Newsletter, the Start Strong assessments will be administered this fall to satisfy the federal statewide assessment requirement to administer assessments in English (ELA), mathematics, and science for the 2020-2021 school year.
- On Monday, September 20th, the students in Grades 5-8 will take the NJ Start Strong Math Assessment.
- On Tuesday, September 21st, the students in Grades 5-8 will take the NJ Start Strong Language Arts Assessment.
- On Wednesday, September 22nd, the students in Grade 6 will take the NJ Start Strong Science Assessment.
- Each assessment is 60 minutes.
Lunch Vendors are Back!
Students should either bring their lunch from home each day, or parents can order through one of the approved vendors for delivery. Please visit the Old Tappan District Website (see picture below), or click on

Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be on
September 23, 2021 and will be an
IN PERSON event. The night will begin at 7:00 PM with your child's Period 1 teacher and will end at 8:35 PM with your child's Period 8 teacher.
Some important information:
- Your child(ren) will bring home a schedule for you to follow throughout the night.
- The 7th Grade Sharpe Trip Chaperones ONLY will meet with Mr. Westervelt in the Lynch Gym at 6:30 PM.
- Since Language Arts and some Math Schedules are a double period, you will be able to visit Lynch Gym during the second session to enjoy refreshments and check out this year's CDW Spirit Wear. Stay tuned for information in the upcoming CDW Weekly Wrap-Ups about how to order Spirit Wear.
- The Cycle/PE teachers will be stationed in the Rossi Gym.
- Just a reminder, please do not park in the staff parking spots (designated by a number).
Join the PTO!
The PTO is looking for volunteers to join the board and committees for next year!
Volunteers play a huge part in the PTO and what we are able to offer our students and teachers. Without volunteers, many of the programs that students, teachers, and families enjoy will not be able to happen. Volunteer descriptions can be found at: OTPTO.org under "More Info" and then "Flyers."
