Trying Something New
Dear Cougar Family,
With the start of a new year, the idea of trying something new surrounds us. It seems like all television commercials right now are about a new diet, a new exercise plan, or changing to a new car insurance provider. We live in a world of cycles, and I must admit that there is something about the juxtaposition between the end of a year and the beginning of the next that causes inherent reflection.
When thinking of life changes, goals, or New Year's resolutions, it can seem overwhelming to think of doing something different all year long. That's why the video "Try Something New for 30 Days" from Matt Cutts on TedEd resonated with me. His challenge is not about giving up gluten forever or working out every day. He challenges us to choose one thing and work on it for just 30 days. 30 days doesn't seem so bad, does it?
Please take a moment to watch this video this week and think about the instructional goal you set at the beginning of the school year. What can you do for the next 30 days in your class to work toward achieving that instructional goal? Small changes can make a huge difference.
I hope that you all had a restful and rejuvenating holiday break! I am so excited to see you all and our students (and to have all of us together for the first time since Cougar Football won the 5A DII State Championship)!
I am looking forward to what 2018 will bring to the Cougar Nation! Have a fabulous week!
As always, COUGAR PRIDE!
