STUDENT PLANNERS
All Correia students will receive a Correia Middle School Student Planner, compliments of our Parent Association! The planner is an important tool in promoting school success. Correia teachers will provide instruction and tips for planner use during the first few weeks of school. This year, our Correia Planner Pages will be posted electronically and reviewed by teachers. These pages will include... school rules, dress code, attendance policy, and other important policies.
CURRICULUM NIGHT / BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT
Mark your calendar - Thursday, September 23rd from 5:30-7:30 PM. Correia Administration will hold a Parent Meeting before Curriculum Night at 5:00 PM. The purpose of this event is for you to learn about the curriculum directly from your child's teachers. More detailed information will be posted on our website in September and sent home through our SMORE Newsletter.
TRAFFIC/PARKING
We anticipate that in the first few days of school there will be a higher volume of traffic than usual. Please plan your commute by allowing sufficient time to drop off your student(s). Please adhere to the signage and personnel directing traffic. SDUSD Facilities Department will begin the solar project Monday, August 16th, and is expected to last two months. The project will limit access to our lower parking lot adjacent to the field. We will send more information regarding drop-off and pick-up locations and procedures in the coming weeks prior to the first day.
WALKING/BIKING/SKATING TO SCHOOL
Students who walk, bike, or skate to school must cross streets only at marked crosswalks and practice good safety habits. Bike racks are located inside the field gates and the Skateboard Room is located in Building 300. Students are encouraged to secure their bikes with a bike lock. Skateboards must be labeled with a name for sign-in. Students who ride their bikes or skateboard must wear a helmet. Please discuss with your child the potential hazards associated with walking, biking, and skating to school from a traffic perspective.
VIEW YOUR CHILD’S ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE VIA “POWERSCHOOL”
You can look at your child’s assignment and test grades online. Correia students and families will be introduced to “PowerSchool” – a fabulous digital tool that keeps parents informed about their child’s progress in Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. If you are continuing in an SDUSD school and have an account, all sign-in information will remain the same. If you are new to SDUSD, you will receive information on how to log into Powerschool in September. Powerschool is an important tool to stay connected to your student's education!
FRIENDS OF DANA AND CORREIA MIDDLE SCHOOLS
Parent involvement looks and feels different at middle school compared to a small elementary school. One important way to be connected and be a part of the many student and staff events is to attend our parent foundation meetings. The “Friends of Dana and Correia Middle Schools” meets once a month and alternates at 6:00 pm, between Dana and Correia Middle schools. We need your help and support and would love to see you at our Association meetings. At the Association meetings, you will find out many ways in which to volunteer at Dana and Correia Middle schools. Together we make great things happen for all children and we have fun doing it! Parent involvement is the key to the academic and social success of children. We need you as our partner in educating your child! Please feel free to contact Missy Preuss, the 2021-22 Association President, at fodac.president@gmail.com. For more information or visit the Association website at https://tinyurl.com/fodac2122.
