Power Outages
Last night PG&E notified our region that due to the high heat and/or wind, we may experience rolling power shut-offs over the next few days. Just another challenge we will work through together.
We will continue with school as normal. If the power is temporarily out for a teacher, and they cannot continue their Google Meet lesson, students should work on their asynchronous work until the teacher is able to resume. If students are impacted at home, just have them resume as soon as possible and the teacher will catch everyone up.
You can check for outages here - https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/outages/map/

Chinese Teacher Appreciation Day: This Thursday, we will be honoring international Chinese Teacher Apprecation Day by celebrating ALL of our amazing Orion teachers. Please check Konstella for announcements and requests for parent support. Join Konstella! This summer we moved to a new parent communication platform that we hope will provide greater support and flexibility for our campus needs. Every parent, teacher and staff member is a part of Starship and it is essential that Starship represent both programs and the entire community. School Site Council First Meeting of the Year Sept 17 at 5:00pm
The Orion School Site Council will begin the year with members from last year to revise budgets from last Spring to reflect Distance Learning needs and updated costs from vendors.
There are a few open positions for both parents and staff this school year that will need to be filled through a school wide voting process. The School Site Council strives to have an equal balance of parents and staff from both the Orion Parent Participation and Mandarin Immersion programs. Elected parents/guardians and staff write and review the Single Plan for Student Achievement and allocate resources based on the SPSA. If you would like to learn more about the role of SSC, please join us for the first meeting.
The second meeting in October will provide a 30 minute training slide deck.
