Friendship Flyer
August 14, 2023
Dear Friendship families,
All of us at Friendship Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be our best year yet. This year we will provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant and build relationships as focus on being a "Home of Champions". It is important to me that everyone who steps through the doors at Friendship Elementary - teachers, students and parents - is excited to be here! Please feel free to stop by the office, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this our best year yet!
As our summer break is coming to an end, this is an important time to begin getting our children back in to good bedtime routines. As parents we know that good sleep is essential to our children's success at school. With good sleep, our children have improved mood and ability to focus for learning at school. Sleep is also important for forming and retaining memories, which is an important part of learning! How can you as a parent help get your children back on a sleep schedule for school after summer or holiday breaks? Please take a minute to read the tips below. And if you have not already started to more bedtimes back to earlier hours, I would encourage you to start now. Starting now will help with the transition so your children will start off strong the first day of school!

Back to School Stock the Lounge
Friendship PTA is kicking off the school year by stocking the teacher’s lounge! Sign up below to bring in a treat for our teachers and staff.
Please bring it in to the school’s front office by this Friday, August 18. You can also drop it off at the PTA table at Meet the Teacher, too!
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
Keller ISD is currently accepting Free and Reduced Meal Applications for the 2023-24 school year online. This form must be completed by all Pre-Kindergarten-12th grade families each school year. Families who qualify for free and reduced meals must submit an application in order to secure free or reduced lunches for the upcoming school year. Visit SchoolCafe.com/KellerISD to apply.
There will not be "universal free breakfast" for the district this year. Only those households/students that qualify for free will receive breakfast (and lunch) free for the 2023-2024 school year.
Breakfast prices will be as follows:
Paid $1.20
Reduced $0.30
Adults $2.25
We encourage all our families to consider filling out the lunch applications. Eligibility for Free and Reduced Meals can help support your family in ways beyond meals. It can help provide services over breaks, instructional help during the school day, tutoring, etc.
If you need help filling out the form online please contact our front office at 817-744-6200. We also have paper copies of the forms if you prefer to complete a paper form.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
The tardy bell rings at 7:55am, so please be sure to practice those morning routines allowing students to arrive on time. Again, parents may walk their children to the classroom on the first day of school only. After the first day, we ask that you please say goodbye before students enter the building, as all parents and visitors are required to come to the front office to show ID and get a badge before entering the building.
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
- Always have your students’ name tags for dismissal - both parent walk-up and car pick-up.
- Only those people that are listed on the Emergency Contact list may pick up students during the day. If you need to add an emergency contact please contact our front office.
- When you come through the car line during dismissal, please have your sign in a position where the ladies on duty can see them.
- Keep in mind that there is no talking or texting in the school zone. School parking lots are also considered school zones. Student and staff safety is most important, but also know it is about a $200.00 fine if you get a ticket for using your cell phone in a school zone.
- Thanks for leaving the family dog at home. Keep in mind that pets are not allowed on campus due to safety and allergy reasons.
- In the mornings, thank you for pulling up as far as you can and then unloading when you stop in front of the building. We have people on duty, so students can quickly unload and begin moving into the building. This process works well when we can unload 5 to 7 cars at a time.
- Also, remember that the space for parking is not a drop off zone in the mornings.
- If your child has not mastered the independence of getting themselves out of your car on their own, please feel free to park and walk them in. We ask that drivers stay in their cars in the drop off zone in order to keep things moving smoothly and efficiently.
