Innovation Tool
KCS has developed a new innovation tool to allow all stakeholders to share an idea (new or could be an improvement on a current practice). Sometimes a great idea comes to mind and when we collaborate on it, it gets even better. This tool can assist us in "giving legs" to those great thoughts. If you are like me, these are the ideas that keep you awake at night, but sometimes feel impossible. Lose sleep no longer! Your idea can be submitted and it can help our district constantly grow and develop.
- JSMS DC MEDICAL FORMS DUE: All medical forms and medications for the DC trip are due on or before April 24th. If any additional forms are needed, students can come to the clinic and get those. Also, if parents or students have any questions, please feel free to contact school nurse at 378-2452.

Professional Development Opportunity - Innovative Solutions to Classroom Behaviors
A new cohort is being developed to explore the research-based practices for social-emotional learning, to prepare teachers to align philosophical beliefs and actions to improve student behavior, and to support and develop the whole child. The cohort will meet 7 times over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. A variety of resources will be used to plan and implement these peer-facilitated sessions. Online components may complement the face-to-face training. The cohort approach allows adult learners opportunities for academic learning, emotional support, and perspective broadening. Attend the information session on Thursday, May 4, 3:45 p.m. at D-B EXCEL. Click here for more information or to register. If questions, please contact Stephanie Potter, spotter@k12k.com or x-5193.

Unique Opportunities for Science Study!
Take your students behind the scenes at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science without leaving your classroom! "Scientists in Action: Mountains of Bones," a live Q&A session with paleontologists who will share their discoveries from the Avenir Collections Center on April 20. Journey through time with our paleontologists as they discuss how the scientific study of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures informs our understanding of the world today. This FREE program puts your students in the driver’s seat as they connect with real scientists and ask questions they care about. With only a computer and a webcam you can connect with us live from your classroom. Sign up today to claim your spot! NOTE: You must register to participate in this and other events.
Looking for more fun virtual field trips to take before the end of the school year? Let your students explore an archaeological site that dates back to 5000 BC with Scientists in Action: Rediscovering Magic Mountain on May 10th. Or check out our Virtual Science Academy, which offers award-winning, interactive experiences that bring the best of the Museum directly to you. All classes align with NGSS and make classroom life easier by presenting content that aligns with school curriculum.

Warrior Whoop! (celebrations and recognitions)
The following message is from Nancy Weaver, our fabulous W.O.W recipient from last week:
As previous recipients have stated, it is hard to pick just one of my colleagues who deserves to be recognized as the W.O.W Recipient. The person I chose is always doing for others and helps out everywhere in the school. On any given day she could find herself subbing for a teacher, helping in the office, hall duty, bathroom duty and the list could go on. Debbie Hash is a Warrior through and through!
Hello Everybody, Just wanted you to know what an asset Mr. Flanary is to Sevier. I needed to download some files in a different format and Mr. Flanary took time to show me a website to use. He is always helpful and willing to share. I am thankful he is part of our Warrior family.
Tony
