East Hills Connections
School Year Edition: Issue 8: October 23, 2020
Connected. Together. Strong.
We have two things we want to share with you in our note this week:
Teachers posted a slideshow on Schoology to introduce the Charger Challenge starting today!
Please see below for additional information. The students will "CHALLENGE" themselves to do something and then raise money for the school. Teachers are offering to do some crazy things to raise money as well. Keep your eye on the Parent Association's website for more information!
You can find all information on your child's Schoology Charger Block course.
EHMS: High Expectation- High Support (heavy on the support)
Overall, the majority of our students have responded to this new learning environment with great effort and success. Teachers, parents and staff have made amazing efforts to engage our students and reach our struggling and frustrated students to allow them to be successful as well. Although this can be difficult for some, we are in a place now having worked through the major obstacles that EVERY student has access to help.
The reality is that any student failing any courses needs to reach out for that help. Our teachers are very flexible and have accepted late work during this time of transition. There is no excuse for students to not make gains in their classes with some effort. Encourage your child to attend extra help sessions and start their "at home" days with a Zoom Connection Meeting with their team's Encore teachers. This will help them start their day with an easy routine.
Our philosophy will always be high expectations with high support. This year we have really enhanced our support so that ALL students can be successful if they engage with the learning. Please help us get your child to the support resources if he/she needs them.
Connected, we will achieve great things, tackle obstacles, and celebrate achieving our goals!
Connected. Together. Strong.

We will be distributing meals at our 5 usual distribution sites on all Mondays in October, including October 12.
