Kay Granger Elementary
Counselor's Corner with Ms. Borg!
Welcome!
Welcome to the Kay Granger Elementary Counselor's Corner! I am excited to share with you what we are doing to build character at Granger every day and how we can partner to help your student succeed. Character education, mental health, raising awareness, building relationships, and respecting individual differences are high priorities for me as your school counselor. I am happy to support you in the best way that I can!
Granger Gives
THANK YOU for your support in North Texas Giving Day this year! We had almost 800 stuffed animals donated for a new local night shelter. It was heartwarming to see your children give away something that was so special to them. It truly showed their value of giving!
Guidance
October is bullying prevention month and our focus in guidance this month will be on WHAT bullying is and WAYS to handle a bully. This is a great discussion to have with your child at home, too!
Character Counts Week October 17th-21st
Character Counts Week is a week where students and teachers focus on the CHARACTER TRAITS that make Granger Elementary a National School of Character! Each day of the week we will discuss the character traits and have activities for the students to participate in. Get involved by having your child wear the COLOR of each character trait throughout the week!
Monday: Green for Responsibility
Tuesday: Purple for Citizenship
Wednesday: Yellow/Orange for Respect/Fairness
Thursday: Blue for Trustworthiness
Friday: Red for Caring
Red Ribbon Week October 24th-28th
Red Ribbon Week is more than just a fun week of dress up days! Red Ribbon Week is a drug and bullying prevention awareness campaign observed annually in the United States. Communities come together during this time to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to be "Drug and Bully Free!"
Helpful Websites and Resources
This month's resource links are on anxiety. Anxiety can be a scary thing for a child. There are a lot of resources for anxiety and how to help when a student starts to feel anxious about something at school or at home. These articles give phrases to help calm an anxious child , rethink test anxiety, and tips/strategies to help!
