Bullying Prevention Month
I challenge you to do one act of kindness each day without expecting anything in return!
Red Ribbon Week
If you or someone you know is struggling with drug abuse, there are resources to help!
1-800-662-HELP (4357)
SAMHSA’s National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) of Deep East Texas currently offers screening, referral and outpatient treatment services in person and by telephone and/or video conferencing in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Call 1-800-445-8562 or 936-634-5753 to schedule an appointment and access services.
If you have met Mr. Jacob Smith around campus, he works for ADAC and will be glad to talk to you any time or help you find the resources you need.
Senior To Do's:
1. Completing and Submitting the FAFSA (or TAFSA if you do not have a Social Security Number)
--> Remember, this is required for graduation unless you complete the waiver!
**FAFSA Parent Night was 10/18, but let me know if you need help. My presentation with tips and FAQ is posted on my website and I emailed it to you a couple of weeks ago.**

2. Submitting college applications
-Be sure to have a teacher, parent, etc. look over your essay(s) and help you proofread them!
3. Completed a resume
4. Begin asking your mentors and teachers for recommendation letters if your scholarship and/or college applications require them. Provide the teacher with your resume so they have plenty of quality information to write about you! (Remember, the Groveton Ex-Students Scholarship will want one from a past GHS graduate and one from a senior year teacher.)
5. Look and apply for scholarships. Local scholarship information will be handed out in January, but you can search for scholarships offered by your college, specifically for your major, and other attributes that are unique to you! Have your parents find out if their employers offer scholarships. Several of the electric companies in our area offer scholarships to people who use their services. Check our Google Classroom!
