Holiday Party - Care Package Project Drive
As the winter holidays approach, we are reminded that not all families will have their loved ones home to celebrate with. Many men and women of our armed forces will be spending this holiday season overseas. As a way to show support to those who serve in our military and as a way to help our students reach out philanthropically this season, we will be decorating cards for the troops during our craft time at the winter holiday party. These cards will be sent overseas via the LCpl. Eric A. Palmisano Care Package Project (http://palmisanocarepackageproject.org/).
We encourage you to let your children know in advance about making these cards, in the event they have any questions. In this way, you will be able to share whatever information you are most comfortable with them receiving about our troops. There is also a link on the site to dozens of thank you letters from troops who have already received care packages - your children might really enjoy seeing how much our servicemen and women value these donations!
Any student that is interested is invited to bring with to the party $0.50 and either chapstick, travel hand sanitizer, and/or gum to donate with the cards. Sending care packages to our soldiers overseas can be very costly, and every little donation helps! Plus, it will be nice to send a small treat with the cards to the troops!

Walden Elementary Annual CASA Event
Monday, November 25 - Thursday, Dec 12
Walden’s Philanthropy Committee invites you to participate in our annual gift giving event for CASA Lake County, providing gifts to abused or neglected children served by our local court system. This year, we will be filling 175 wishes! If you would like to help meet their needs this winter season, please:
-Pick up wish list items in the Walden foyer starting the afternoon of November 25th, or sign up online at: https://www.timetosignup.com/waldenshepardcasa/sheet/1290636.
-Purchase items (new items only, please), and leave items with gift receipt and the number assigned to that child’s request in the collection bin in the Walden lobby, by
Thursday, December 12th.
**Please turn in gift cards to the office so they don't get lost in the collection bin.
-Please do include gift receipts in case we receive double, children’s clothing sizes are updated, or there is another exchange required. If fulfilling a gift card request, please note the amount included on the card.
-Although gift cards are not nearly as much fun to pick out, we really need your help with these. Teenagers are those most likely to have experienced turmoil long-term, and we really want to show them the love this holiday season, by allowing them to pick out something for themselves.
Thank you so much to our amazing Walden community that makes this possible each year! You are making a difference in the lives of so many children. Please contact Alison Lambert at alison.m.lambert@gmail.com with any questions.
Note: This is a Walden Philanthropy Committee sponsored event and participation is optional.
