National League of Junior Cotillions –Alpharetta/Johns Creek Chapter.
On March 15th we will begin accepting NEW registrations for the 2019-20 season. Our Year 1 program is for rising 6th & 7th grade students. The Year 2 program is for returning 7th and 8th grade students and, when space available, we accept “new” 8th grade students for Year 2. Beginning in September, our program meets one Sunday a month, ending with the Grand Spring Ball in March. NLJC is a national program with over 200 chapters throughout the country. Our students practice lifelong skills throughout the school year with students from the Greater North Fulton area. Practicing good social conduct with their peers has a significant impact in developing confidence as well as proper, respectful behavior before they reach adulthood. Our cotillion season includes five instructional class/dances (meeting 1 time each month) and two special formal events. Instructional Classes include dance as well as etiquette instruction in proper introductions, party courtesies, polite conversations, paying and receiving compliments, basic table manners, restaurant etiquette, correspondence, including “Thank You” notes and RSVPs, phone etiquette, responsibilities of electronic media, sports and flag etiquette, as well as many other skills of social behavior essential for young adults. The Year 2 season builds on our Year 1 curriculum, plus adds our Formal Instructional Dinner. Space is limited for all classes. We encourage early registration to avoid wait lists. All classes require 50-50 balance of young ladies and gentlemen. Not required but you may sign up with a partner to help balance classes.
Registration is on a first come first served basis directly through our national website www.nljc.com/chapter/alpharettajohns. For questions contact NLJC Director, Melinda Belock at Melinda.belock@nljc.com
