What is the definition confidence ?

The definition of confidence has been a blur, because everyone has a different perspective of it. On Merriam-Webster the definition of confident is - "confident means having a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something".

Confidence

Most people get their confidence from within. They are happy with what they do such as a job or staying at home with their family. They are happy with how they act, and happy with their appearance.

Antisocial

You may wonder why people are shy or to nervous to present in front of their classmates or even for a job interview. Some people may just be antisocial. To be "Antisocial" is to try to avoid contact with other people. If you are antisocial you may not like talking to people or meeting new people. You just like to be alone in your own little bubble and you are not very out going. Most antisocial people are very quiet and do not speak up.

Bullying

Others may not be very confidant because of something in their personal life. Maybe something going on at home or even in school. Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. Approximately 160,000 teens skip every day because of bullying. 17% of American students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a month or more within a school semester.

Our Experiment

We asked the social worker and a group of fifth graders on what they think of when we talk about confidence?

Stereotypes

Stereotypes are another reason that people are not confidant. Stereotypes are names and opinions ( Hurtful or kind ) that people give one another. When people think about the word stereotypes they mostly think of distressing names. Stereotype can be very hurtful towards someone and can often be very racist. Depending on how you use them.
