Dear Walker Families,
We have arrived at the midpoint of the first trimester. As we reflect on the start of the year, we are fortunate for all the progress we have made. Each day our students and teachers amaze us with their efforts and dedication to learning. From learning sight words to improving our reading fluency to mastering comprehension our students are becoming great readers, and we know today's readers are tomorrow's leaders. Keep up the great work!
We continue to keep student health and safety a top priority. Please cotinue to monitor student health and communicate possible Covid symptoms to our nurse As a reminder, Covid symptoms include the following.
- Fever great than 100.4 than 100.4 degrees
- New onset of moderate to severe headache
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New cough
- Sore throat
- Nausea or vomiting
- New loss of taste or smell
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue from unknown cause
- Muscle or body aches

Building Reflex Update
Students in second through foruth grade are working hard mastering the math facts by using Reflex Math. We are proud of their progress. Below are our milestones for these grades.
- 2,450 new fluent facts
- 100,000 facts solved
- 15% increase in fact fluency
Halloween Parade Canceled
We regret to inform you, but we will not be hosting a Halloween parade this year out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students and staff. While we know this is an event many look forward to, it is not the safest option at this time. Students however, are able to wear costumes to school on Friday, October 29 and classrooms will have time allocated to celebrate in their classrooms.
Red Ribbon Week & Spirit Week: October 25-October 29
Students are encouraged to show their Bulldog pride as we celebrate our first spirit week of the year.
Monday 10/25: Red Ribbon Day (wear red)
Tuesday 10/26: School Shirt Day (wear any Walker or SD 104 t-shirt and jeans)
Wednesday 10/27: Western Wednesday (dress in your best western style clothes)
Thursday 10/28: Crazy Hair Day (create unique hair styles, but coloring is to be done at home)
Friday 10/29: Costume Day (come to school in your best Halloween costume or wear balck and orange)
