August 14, 2023 End of Summer Edition
School Starts Monday August 21st!
Dear Minnieville Families,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year at Minnieville Elementary! We hope that your family has enjoyed summer and are feeling excited to begin the school year. We are happy that you have chosen to be a part of our school community this year. Our staff eagerly awaits seeing our Eagles return to school on August 17th for orientations, open house or on the first day of school, August 21! We look forward to collaborating with you this year to ensure your child has a safe, fun, and successful academic year.
Class schedules have been in ParentVUE for elementary schools; however, parents/guardians will not have access to the same information until they complete the Back to School Packet first. Completing the Back to School Packet is important for the safety and security of our students, which is why it must be completed before viewing other student information. If you need help completing the Back To School Packet call 703-670-6106 and ask for Parent Liaison Sheila Ly.
Bus schedules are available in ParentVUE . I encourage you to download the Here Comes the Bus mobile app that allows you to track your student’s buses in real-time. Once the Back to School Packet is completed, check back often in ParentVUE, as changes to bus stops and times may occur up until the first day of school.
Students’ First Day of School will be August 21. Bell times are 8:45 am – 3:25 pm
Students who are eating breakfast may arrive at 8:30 am. For student safety, please do not have students arrive prior to this time.
To ensure student safety, no parents or guardians will be permitted inside the building on the first day of school. Attending open house on August 17th is recommended to become familiar with the school and your child’s teacher. Staff will be available to receive all walkers, bus riders, car or daycare van riders and ensure they make it to their new classrooms safely.
The Back to School Packet is available in ParentVUE , and should be completed by Friday, September 15. In completing this packet, parents/guardians will update emergency cards, contact information, and complete annual policy reviews and acknowledgments. The information you provide will allow school staff to ensure your students’ safety this school year, so please double check to make sure all information is accurate.
Breakfast and lunch is FREE for all Minnieville students. School breakfast and lunch menus and more may be found by visiting pwcsnutrition.
Important Dismissal Safety Information: Dismissal changes must be sent to school in writing and received by 3 p.m. Changes must be sent in writing as there always remains the possibility of your child being assigned a substitute teacher for the day who does not have access to email. You may send a follow-up email or call the school office if you wish to ensure that the dismissal change has been received by the child’s teacher. We strongly encourage parents to maintain a consistent daily dismissal plan to reduce the possibility of error with students’ dismissal routines. We will not dismiss students from the office 3:00 pm and 3:23 pm. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
