5 Disneyland Passes Being Raffled!

A select group of students from GMS and GHS have been working hard over the past year to raise funds to travel with EF Educational Tours on a trip to London and Paris during Spring Break 2020. Part of this hard work has included doing community service projects throughout our town. As a reward for these projects, the group has been granted 5 all-day passes to Disneyland! In an effort to finish their fundraising efforts, the group will be holding a raffle for these tickets. All of the tickets will be going to one lucky winner, and that could be you!

Raffle tickets are being sold 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. The big winner will be announced at halftime of the boys middle school basketball home game at GMS on Wednesday, February 5th. You don't need to be present to win.

Tickets can be purchased from any of the students attending the trip. For more information, or to purchase your raffle tickets now, please contact Amber Smith at 208-731-5901 or by email at ambersmith2202@hotmail.com.

Information on the Tri-County Board of Community Guardians

The Board of Community Guardians for Gooding, Lincoln, and Jerome Counties provides assistance to adult citizens who are no longer able to care for themselves. The role of the board is to ensure vulnerable adults (those who can no longer make or communicate responsible decisions or provide for their own basic needs) are protected from exploitation, abuse, and neglect.

The board is currently looking for compassionate community volunteers who would be willing to advocate for those who have been declared incapacitated by the court. If you are interested, please call Program Coordinator Cody Cantrell at 208-644-2708.

Winter Driving Tips!

Note From Police Chief Fisher

The Gooding Police Department would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas a great New Year. Officers are participating in our annual No Shave November fund raiser to purchase toys and other necessary items for our local children. We have raised just over $1,000.00 this year. $750 of this, however, is holdover funds from late donations last year. There is still time to donate as we plan to make purchases with these funds the week of December 16th. Donations may be made in person at the City Hall, the Police Department, or by mail at 308 5th Ave West, Gooding, ID 83330.

Winter has finally arrived and it is time to check your vehicles for proper working order of its equipment, especially lights and wipers. Also remember to give yourself a bit more time to reach your destination as it will take longer to get a vehicle ready for any destination with the need to clear windows and lights for frost, snow, and debris.

The Police Department would also like to thank Officer Justin Herman for his years of service to the Gooding Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Deputy and the City of Gooding as a Patrol Officer. Officer Herman will be returning to his home area in the Treasure Valley in the near future to be closer to family. With his departure, we are again in search of a patrol officer. We are always accepting applications for officers and are now in need of replacing two patrol officers and one detective. We are in the process of reviewing current applications and scheduling testing events for selection of our newest officers.

Note From Fire Chief Covey

A big welcome to Scott Williams!! Scott is the first Chaplain the Gooding Fire Department has ever had. Scott is the Pastor at the Gooding First Christian Church. He and his wonderful family moved from Ohio this year and has become a perfect fit for our community and family here at the department. With what our first responders see from call to call having Scott supporting our crew and their families on an emotional and spiritual level is priceless.

The Gooding Fire District would like to remind those that use a wood stove to clean the chimney on a regular basis. We would also like to take a moment and thank those who are slowing down and driving with caution on these winter roads. We have responded to a minimal amount of collisions this season. The Fire Department is now able to respond to any Search and Rescue situations in Gooding County Bennett Hill area. Personal snowmobiles are being used at this time. We will be looking for donations so we can purchase a toboggan to pull behind a snowmobile. We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas and God Bless, Chief Covey.
