ORCHARD HILL HAWK TALK
Be Safe - Be Respectful - Be Responsible - Be a Hawk!
MAY 4, 2020
Greetings from Principal Carpenter
I hope you are all doing well and staying safe during this pandemic that we continue to face. Even though our school doors are closed we stand available to encourage you, help you learn and be there with you through this difficult time.
Most of our students are engaged in weekly assignments and class virtual meetings. I thank you for helping your child take responsibility for their learning during this 3 month distance learning time. Much learning IS taking place. If you student is not connected or completing assignments, please encourage them to do so and stay in contact with your student's teacher. We want to make sure that students are not falling behind during this time and continue to prepare academically for next year.
The last official day for students is June 10th. The last 2 weeks of May will be completing end of year online assessments to determine progress that students have made in reading and math. The first week of June will be the last week for students to complete assignments and activities for their class.
Finally, this week, May 4th - 8th, is National Teacher Appreciation week. Please take time to thank your teacher for all of their work supporting you child’s learning. I also want to take a moment to thank YOU, our families, for stepping in on the home front to be your student's teacher. Your role is a vital one and, as you've discovered, teaching is not an easy profession! Together we can help our students learn and grow.
Yours for Kids,
Principal Carpenter
Teacher Appreciation Week
The COVID-19 pandemic has given families everywhere an up-close look at the relentless and often thankless job of educators. If you would like to give a shout out to our teachers during this week of appreciation, you can do that in the following ways:
- Post on social media a video or photo message from your student for their teacher. Tag Orchard Hill Elementary Hawks facebook page so we can all see.
- Send an email message from your student to orchardhillelementary@gmail.com. We will forward that to you student's teacher. Please include your student's name and the teacher.
- Ask your student to write a note or color a picture for their teacher and mail it to the school at 1011 LaLoma Drive, Medford, OR 97504.
