The Beaverton Clothes Closet -- Oct 2nd -- Help distribute free clothing to district students in need. This is a great community service opportunity that supports students in the entire district! Please note that younger children cannot be accommodated during this volunteer activity. There is usually a greater need for volunteers in the afternoon. Click HERE to sign up. Jogathon -- Oct 18th -- This is THE annual PTC-sponsored fundraising event each school year. Students seek pledges of financial support from friends, family and neighbors to support over 40 PTC-sponsored enrichment programs. Students, teachers and staff meet on the track to run as many laps as possible during the designated 30-minute class period (20 minutes for K and 1st) during the school day. *SCC students will run with their grade level. Parents are needed to help organize students, cheer kids on and count laps. Click HERE to log in, then scroll down to Events - Jogathon and find your grade and teacher. Contact Kelly Ruhl or Amy Ottaway with questions.,

In the classroom -- For each classroom, we are recruiting for a Party Coordinator, an Art Lit helper and a Celebrate Reading helper. Slots are filling up, but many opportunities are still open! Contact Orissa Crispin or Sandy Dinsdale on the Volunteer Coordination Team with questions.

Ridgewood Buddies -- Do you need answers to all the questions about Ridgewood? (Where are the adult bathrooms? What does "under cover" mean? Can I drop off from my car?) We will be pairing up Kinder and new-to-Ridgewood families with an experienced Ridgewood family to answer all those questions and any others you may have (in Spanish, too). If you would like to be paired up with a family, either to get help or give help, email Ashley Chuinard.

Staff Treats -- Provide food and drink for the Ridgewood staff during their monthly staff meeting. Meetings are generally the first Tuesday of the month and treats should be delivered to the front office by 2:00 that day. Three people will coordinate treats for approximately 45 people. Click HERE to sign up! Contact Jennifer Browning with questions.

Morning Mix Stations -- Mon-Fri -- Ridgewood is transitioning away from traditional morning recess. After a structured rotation over the next few weeks to explore all of the stations, students will be able to choose from various activities based on what makes them feel most regulated and ready to learn once class starts. Staff would be so appreciative to have parent volunteers assist with supervision each morning from 7:55 to 8:25. Click HERE to sign up.

Green Team -- If you have an interest in recycling and all things green, come be a part of our Green Team! Green Team works to keep Ridgewood sustainable and help students develop leadership skills. Work with 5th-grade students on various green efforts around the school: milk carton recycling, gardening, clothing swap, sustainability education, and more! Click HERE to sign up. Contact Becky Lanford with questions.

Thank you for supporting Ridgewood!!

Student Sucess Act

The Oregon Legislature passed and the Governor signed the $2 billion Student Success Act (HB 3427) in Spring 2019. This is an historic and much needed investment in K-12 schools. The Beaverton School District could be able to access an estimated $34 million per year through a state application process.

School districts are required to apply for funds, and must engage their community in a needs assessment process prior to the application for funds. We will host a series of Community Conversations - Speak Up 4 Student Success in several locations throughout the BSD. Schools will also be engaging their communities in these conversations during September and October.

Please join us to talk about what student success looks like in the Beaverton School District? What is going well in Beaverton schools? What areas/services/programs could we improve?

Your voice matters! We welcome your perspective and opinion.

Speak Up 4 Student Success Community Conversations offered in English & Spanish:

· Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Southridge High School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

· Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Cedar Park Middle School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

· Monday, October 7, 2019 at Stoller Middle School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

· Monday, October 21, 2019 at Aloha High School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. (Budget Listening & Learning Session) For more information, and to complete a BSD Needs Survey, please visit the Student Success Act webpage.

Ridgewood Daily Schedule

Want to know if your students has PE, music, tech, or library on a particular day? Ridgewood "specials" follow a 6-day rotation schedule, which you can view at the link below. To read the schedule, first locate the schedule number for a particular day by looking at the tables listed by month. For example, the schedule for Monday, Oct. 7th is Day 1. Then look at the top of the page for the schedule for Day 1. The color coded blocks refer to the grade and first initial of the teacher's last name. For example, 2G, or Ms. Guy's 2nd grade class, has PE from 8:35-9:25 on Day 1.

School Meal Information

If you would like to apply for free/reduced price school meals, you may apply online: You may also pick up a paper application in the office (or call us at 503-356-2440 to have a application sent home with your child).

Walk and Bike Day Coming Up

International Walk and Bike Day is on Wednesday, October 2nd. We encourage as many students as possible to join us by walking to school or rolling to school. There will be a walking school bus that will leave Cedar Park Middle School at 8:00 a.m. to walk to Ridgewood.

If students are unable to join the Walking school bus or walk/roll to school, they may walk two laps around the track to participate. All participating students will get a Walk and Bike sticker from a staff member on duty. Random students who get a sticker with a star will win a prize but all participating students may get a cup of hot cocoa after arriving at school or walking the track. Please plan on helping our community be a little more green on October 2nd for Walk and Bike day!

Please clip Box Tops and ask your friends, neighbors and family to clip Box Tops! The program is now phasing to scanned Box Tops. Please download the new App for an even easier way to get Ridgewood dollars! Look for Box Tops on MANY of the regular products you buy and be sure and scan your receipt for an automatic deposit to Ridgewood.

Our 2019-2020 goal is $1,000 for the school which goes right to our students’ programs. It couldn’t be easier! Our first submission is November 1st. Between the start of school and Halloween, please put any clipped Box Tops in your child’s grade box, look for them outside the main office. The grade with the most Box Tops will get extra recesses in November!
